I Have a Toddler, These Are The Items I Wear On Repeat for "Cool Mom" Credits

Any mom will tell you that time is of the essence. As someone who used to be relatively punctual, now that I have a toddler I’m nearly always running out the door, breathlessly hoping that I remembered to grab a bib or my son’s current favorite truck. The luxury of standing in front of all my clothes for twenty minutes and mulling over what I’m going to wear is a distant memory; at this point my closet’s functionality is similar to a grab & go mart (half of the time I don’t even look in the mirror anymore). Everything that I reach for has to be easy, accessible and won’t use up any of my sleep-deprived brain cells trying to put an outfit together.

All that being said, I still want to look good! And while, yes, leisure-wear is definitely a mainstay, it’s nice to feel put together and even, you know, cool now and again! For me, this meant identifying 7 wardrobe staples that are practical, yet also put some extra pep in my step. So, take a moment for yourself and keep scrolling. My top picks to have you feeling and looking like a “cool mom” are just below

Smock Dress

Come summer, I live for a smock dress. They’re comfortable, non-restricting and accentuate all the right places.

Relaxed Jeans

Baggy jeans have a built-in cool factor. They're effortless with a little bit of edge and in the trend-verse right now.

Classic Square Sunglasses

Us moms with toddlers are tired. A pair of classic black sunglasses are essential for those early morning drop-offs or when you’ve been dealing with middle of the night wake-ups.

Breezy White Top

A pretty white top might seem counterintuitive when you’ve got raspberry-covered hands to worry about, but they're so easy to style with jeans. I prefer looser versions that allow you room to move while still looking like good.

Distressed Leather Jacket

I rely a lot on outerwear to pull an outfit together. Mom or not, a distressed leather jacket always looks cool when thrown over a basic t-shirt and jeans.

Elevated Tote Bag

I’ll tell you one thing that does not make me feel cool, lugging a ton of bags around to transport my toddler's stuff. To keep my life simpler, I reach for an elevated tote to hold most of my son’s things and I’ll bring a smaller purse for myself if need be. A monogrammed L.L. Bean is always classic, however straw beach totes are nice for summer, too.

Leather Loafers

When I’m in a rush, I want footwear that I can literally just slip my feet into without a second thought. Leather loafers do the trick and make even the most basic of outfits look chic.
