So, We Figured Out Why Dion Lee Was Chosen to Open Fashion Week
As one of Australia's most celebrated designers, Dion Lee was the perfect choice to open Fashion Week Australia. Under the sails of the Sydney Opera House, the designer returned to the location of one of his first fashion shows (S/S 10-11) to present a breathtaking collection. The runway was opened by Sydney-based model Roberta Pecoraro in a relaxed double-breasted suit, and let me tell you, everyone immediately wanted to be that girl.
With a respectful nod to his past designs (asymmetrical tailoring, laser cuts, and netting), Lee's Resort 18 collection took a new direction and had a distinctly international feel, but one we can easily imagine seeing on the streets of Sydney. Chunky knits in primary colours helped make this collection feel decidedly different.
