I Keep Seeing This One Summer Jacket Style All Over London
Don't you love it when the fashion powers that be invent new clothing terminology? Case in point: What do you get when you cross a shirt and a jacket? A shacket, of course! Yep, we now have another fashion hybrid to add to the motley lineup, which includes such inventions as skorts and jeggings. Thankfully, however, the shacket is a far more refined and grown-up creation than some of the other fashion mashups, and it's fast becoming the cool girl's go-to for low-key weekend dressing.
Offering the polished nonchalance of a shirt with the structure and weight of a jacket, this is all I want to be wearing over my summer dresses and white tees during the notoriously tricky late-summer period. It may be a style best kept to the weekend—no matter how you style it, it will never look "smart"—but it's sure to become your default throw-on jacket for a Sunday when you need something to go with your jeans and Breton.
You'll also be glad to hear that this is also a trend that has thrived on the high street. While Ganni and MC Overalls have fab options in vibrant prints and hues, you really can't beat & Other Stories, Topshop and Weekday for their abundant offering of styles that come in premium-feel fabrics. After all, denim is one of those fabrics that doesn't necessarily improve with price—you just need to make sure it feels sturdy and hangs well. Scroll down to see and shop my edit of the best.
Style Notes: Minimalists will love the shacket's clean-lined finish, which will go with everything from jeans and dresses to shorts and skirts.
Style Notes: Ada makes a good case for embracing the tonal trend into the autumn months with a rust-coloured shacket and colour-match jeans.
Style Notes: Now this is what we want to be wearing every weekend. A shacket is a great throw-on to pair with jeans and sneakers—oh, and a bucket hat if you're feeling ambitious.

If you fancy a pop of colour, make like Ada and get one in rust orange.
Camo plus a shacket silhouette is always a winning combo.
Wear now with shorts and then layer over a white roll-neck come autumn.
A belted style will offer shape if you're feeling intimidated by the boxy iterations.
Colour-pop green will look great with muted shades of beige and cream.
