I didn’t want there to be more ankle boots to love. But then London Fashion Week happened, and I realised my wardrobe would look great with a pair of cream-coloured boots. Don’t get me wrong—I love white boots, too, but there’s something about an off-white hue that speaks to me. Perhaps it’s because they demand less cleaning (they hide marks a little better), or maybe it’s because they’re the not-too-distant cousin of the ultimate luxe colour, camel. Whatever it is, they’re having a moment, and I think it’s one that’s going to last.
Once you’ve decided to go for cream, the next choice is all about the style. Let me tell you, there are a lot. You see, there’s not just one boot style you’ll find in cream—pretty much every ankle-boot trend for 2019 has some cream version. There are cowboy boots, lace-ups, square toes, and classic block heels. But my favourites? Fashion hiker boots, because—and let’s be honest—the most amount of hiking these shoes will get will be jumping on and off public transport.
