Two of Australia's Biggest Designers Were on the SAG Awards Red Carpet

Among the first few to arrive at the SAG Awards earlier today, presenters Giuliana Rancic and Renée Bargh set the red carpet expectation early. Both women dazzled in svelte silhouettes that stood out from the crowd. While both women’s dresses were very different, they did have one surprising similarity: Both were created by Australian designers.

Alex Perry and Steven Khalil, the names behind the gowns, both originally launched their brands in Sydney and are now worn by women around the world. The influence of these two men is undeniable, but perhaps we can let the fact that they’ve both dressed a number of celebrities including the Kardashians, Gigi Hadid, and Rihanna, further prove their talent.

In a world full of contracts and agreements between celebrities and designers, it can sometimes feel like the same gowns (designed by the same brands) appear on the red carpet over and over again. It’s refreshing to see something different—and something that can be attributed to the Australian fashion industry. If these dresses are any indication, it's important to foster our young, fresh talent, because the world is watching!
