The new year calls for new resolutions, and we think it's wonderful that you want to be a wiser, more strategic shopper. First up: investing in transitional shoes that will take you from winter to spring. That means barely-there sandals and pumps are out of the question, but we can happily suggest three styles that are not only seasonless, but also timeless to boot! Timeless Must-Try #1: Loafers The loafer has evolved into a smoking slipper, a choice that's chic from day to night. The key to picking a pair you can wear for months to come? Skip wintery fabrications (velvet) and colors (dark wine, forest green) and opt for more versatile detailing like stripes, studs, metallics, or exotics. Wear these comfy flats now with a cozy sweater/peacoat/denim look and then pair with baggy cropped trousers and a camisole come spring. Timeless Must-Try #2: Brogues/Oxfords We are suckers for any dapper, menswear-inspired shoes, and these classics are the perfect ironically boyish accessory for your feminine wardrobe. Pair these lovely lace-ups with a cropped skinny of any kind and a cable-knit sweater now, then with a cool white tee and a girly skirt come spring. Timeless Must-Try #3: Cropped Cowboy or Moto Boots If you're looking for a more substantial shoe that will add a little rough and tumble edge to your wardrobe, then invest in a flat boot that's cropped at the ankle. We prefer a shoe with a wider "mouth," as it simply is more flattering on the leg. These kicks look best with a little wear and tear, so don't be afraid of exposing them to sleet and snow. They will eventually look perfectly distressed, making them the ideal contrasting piece to wear with your sweet springtime sundresses.
