I Tried J.Crew’s Highly Anticipated Eckhaus Latta Collection—Shop Before It Sells Out
Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta's reimagining of J.Crew's '90s vintage.
After Eckhaus Latta’s Spring/Summer 2027 runway show on Friday, the LA-NYC label threw a New York Fashion Week party with J.Crew at The Players in Gramercy Park in honor of its limited-edition collection.
Earlier this year during last NYFW in February, the two first collaborated on a reimagined rollneck that sold out almost immediately. The overwhelming response to the best-selling sweater inspired them to work together again on a line of knitwear, outwear, shirts, denim, bottoms, and accessories—brining Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta's experimental design approach to J.Crew. Out today, I already know it's going to sell out quickly.
Eckhaus and Latta shared in a press release: “The inspiration for us was really J.Crew. It is an iconic American brand with a rich heritage. We rummaged through a lot of its catalogs from the '90s as points of reference. That period was our childhood, so our aesthetics and tastes will always be shaped by it." Olympia Gayot, Creative Director of Women’s and Kids at J.Crew, continued: "We wanted to preserve the experimentation, individuality and sense of community that make Eckhaus Latta so distinctive, along with the unpretentious New York energy they bring to clothes designed for how people actually live. The catalogs became a major source of inspiration, revealing an era of the brand that already possessed a little downtown tension. Mike and Zoe pulled that spirit forward through their own perspective, creating a collection that feels unmistakably J.Crew, but unexpected enough to make you look twice."
In celebration of the 27-piece capsule, myself and assistant shopping editor Josephine Hadjiloucas tried a few pieces from the highly anticipated launch—see our review and shop it all below.
Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew Review
My Thoughts
For me, the star of the show is the Rollneck in Black Multi Marl. As soon as I tried it on, I squealed with excitement: "I'm obsessed!" It's perfect. Especially after not being able to get the very first The Rollneck by Eckhaus Latta back in February, I was so happy to see they brought it back in this new colorway. I also love the Paneled Wool Midi Skirt and the balaclava.
Other items that I think will sell out first include the Ribbed Rollneck Sweater, Marled Knit Cardigan, and Art Sweater. And if you love denim, it's one of the things Eckhaus Latta has become known for, such as the collection's Double-Waisted Chino, Catalog Jean, and Relaxed Jean.
Josephine's Thoughts
"As Audry said, ever since the original Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew Rollneck came out in Feburary (and sold out within 24 hours), I've been waiting patiently to get my hands on a Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew creation. Now, it's not just a Rollneck I'll be shopping, but an entire fall wardobe thanks to the Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew collection. My favorites are the Butcher's Daughter Apron dress, Carwash Skirt, and the Rib Cardigan + Vest Set." — Josephine Hadjiloucas, assistant shopping editor
