We Tried the Best-Selling Lip Product on Amazon—Here Are Our Honest Reviews
Anyone who knows me will be well aware that my inbox exists in a constant state of chaos. I have no filing system to speak of, and the number of emails that I've starred to get back to later is, frankly, ridiculous. So for a press release on a new beauty launch to break through the disarray and catch my attention is no mean feat, but when I spotted an email shouting about a best-selling lip kit with thousands of five-star reviews arriving in the UK, I instantly clicked on it. And I am so glad I did.
Wonderskin's Peel & Reveal Wonder Blading Lip Stain (£28) is one of those products that you might already be aware of if you're mad about TikTok. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it's gone viral on the social platform. Its appeal? You slick on a bright-blue gloss (yes, you read that right), spray on an "activator," and then peel it all off to reveal perfectly tinted lips and a gorgeous colour that lasts all day. At least, that's the aim. Because while there are tons of glowing reviews for this product on Amazon U.S.—one reviewer said she "applied it at 2:30 a.m. and wore it, without touching up WITH A MASK ON, and at 2:30 p.m. it was still on"—there is a handful of people who are a little more sceptical about the finish and longevity.
However, I'm always up for trying something new, so I jumped at the chance to try this cult lip product for myself. Ahead, keep scrolling for our honest reviews and the before-and-after photos.
How to apply the Wonderskin Peel & Reveal Wonder Blading Lip Stain
There are basically three steps to this lip-tinting process, and the first is to apply two to three thick coats of the Lip Masque. This is effectively the colour that will be transferred to your lips. I went for the shade Darling, a berry-purple colour, but word of warning: They all come out bright indigo blue when you apply them on. I have to admit I found it a little tricky to work out whether I was applying this evenly, as the formula is quite thick and gloopy, and every time I went over the same area to get a thicker layer, it looked as if it was lifting the colour beneath. However, I persisted and was eventually left with bright-blue lips that Wonderskin advises you leave on for anywhere between 10 and 45 seconds. The longer you leave it, the more intense the colour.
Does the Wonderskin Peel Lip Stain come off easily?
I decided to go for it and wait for the full 45 seconds before going in with step two: the Lip Activator. You mist this once or twice all over the lip area (holding it approximately four inches away from your face), which should transform the Lip Masque into a peel-off film. However, I found it impossible to peel off the colour in one lovely sweep like I'd seen so many people do on TikTok. I couldn't find any bit of colour to grab hold of, so I used the little lip towel that Wonderskin provides to wipe off the Lip Masque. This was the ticket for me! A few sweeps back and forth across my lips, and the blue film crumbled away.

Does the Wonderskin Blading Lip Stain actually work?
Does the Wonderskin Peel & Reveal Wonder Blading Lip Stain work? In a word: yes! I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the deep, berry-bitten lip colour that was left behind—perfect for autumn and winter. The colour was even, and my lips didn't feel dry or uncomfortable, either.
A lot of people have asked me if the lip stain lasts, and I'm pleased to report it does a pretty good job of staying put. Later on in the day, I applied a lip balm, as my lips did start to feel a little tight (and I'm something of a lip balm fiend), but I was amazed at how well the colour stayed put. Even by the end of the day, there was still a hint of colour left on my lips. With mask-wearing now a part of our daily lives, I usually skip lipstick entirely—something that pains me, as I used to love wearing a bright-red lip. However, the staying power of the Wonderskin Lip Stain has genuinely convinced me to start incorporating lip colour into my makeup routine again. I'm so impressed.
What's more is that there are now so many additional colours to choose from, ranging from light, subtle pinks and nudes through to deeper shades of berry—as I type I can find 23 different shades on Amazon, and there is an option to buy just the lip stain on its own or as a kit with the activator (so you could use the activator with a different shade once purposed).
Do I think the Wonderskin Blading Lip Stain actually works?
If you're tired of reapplying your lipstick or balm throughout the day, want gorgeous colour and the guarantee that people will complement you on your make-up look, then yes, I would absolutely say the Wonderskin lip stain is worth it! Especially if you can buy it for less. Scroll ahead to see some of the shades on the Who What Wear UK team with before and afters, and see how well the stain stayed on throughout the day...
Our Wonderskin Lip Stain Reviews
Sophie: Wearing Shade Whimsical
Sophie Cookson, ecom analyst: "I used the shade Whimsical, and to be totally honest I was a little skeptical at first. However I am consistently having to re-apply products to my lips because I always have a drink with me that I was happy to try something that might stay a little longer. The application is really easily, keep it on for a few minutes and then use a damp tissue to wipe away the blue residue—this was the only way that I could easily remove that didn't leave flecks of blue on my sink or on myself. I really love the colour, it seems quite subtle but stands out so it looks natural (just better!). As you can see in the last picture, even with lots of water drinking the stain maintained for over four hours without having to re-apply."
Jerrylyn: Wearing Shade Whimsical
Jerrylyn Saguiped, affiliates manager: "I’ve been so impressed at the results I’ve seen online for the Wonderskin Lip Stain, so I naturally jumped at the chance to try it out. It’s a no-frills product which is simple to use—the lipgloss-like applicator makes it easy to put on, and when you wipe it off after 10-30 seconds you can really see the difference in tone.
"I opted for Whimsical—a warm rosy shade that added a natural looking blush to my lips. As we move into the colder months, I’m finding that my lips are a little more on the drier side, so I do wish I had exfoliated beforehand as some of the colour clung to these drier areas which made the stain look uneven. That said, it did even out through the day, and lasted around four hours before I felt like it needed re-applying.
"I love that Wonderskin uses responsibly sourced, cruelty-free ingredients and the formula isn’t drying at all as it doesn’t contain any alcohol. At £18, it’s a product that delivers what it promises and I can see myself using it again (but after being sure to exfoliate!)."
Maxine: Wearing Shade Bella
Maxine Eggenberger, deputy editor: "As far as I’m concerned, Wonderskin’s lip stain is a revelation for anyone craving a perfect lip colour that stays put. The application process is genuinely as quick and easy as they promise—a few seconds, and you’re set. I swear when I’ve tried this product in the past you had to leave it on for much longer, which meant the first time I tried it, it was slightly purple-adjacent. However, adhering to the instructions, my lips were bestowed with the prettiest berry flush. I was sceptical at first (long-wear stains often seem too good to be true), but this one is different. The colour is richly pigmented and delivers a natural, "just-bitten" payoff that looks like your lips, only better.
"What really impressed me is its staying power. Even through sips of cocktails on an evening out, the stain held up beautifully, with zero smudging or drying. Unlike some other stains, it’s gentle on the lips, leaving them soft and comfortable. Wonderskin has nailed it here—no constant touch-ups, no fuss, just gorgeous, effortless colour. I tried the shade Bella, and she’s officially earned a spot in my handbag."
Brittany: Wearing Shade Bella
Brittany Davis, editorial assistant: "I’m all about easy, no-fuss make-up products so I was very excited to try out this lip stain. I opted for the shade Bella, a deep mauve shade that I thought would be great for both day and night.
"I loved how easy it was to apply, I left mine on for 30 seconds as I wanted the pigment to form as much as possible. It genuinely felt as if I had nothing on my lips which I was happy about. However, I could see that it settled into the dry patches on my lips leaving an uneven layer of pigment. It lasted me for about five hours overall, without smudging or transferring on my mug after having a coffee.
"Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for those days you don’t have dry or chapped lips. I’m excited to use it again once my lips are smooth as I do think I would love the results. It provides a nice flush of colour which I’d personally layer a clear gloss over, but it definitely doesn’t need it if you prefer a more natural everyday lip look."
Eleanor: Wearing Shade Adore
Eleanor Vousden, beauty editor: "I have very sensitive lips (I usually only tolerate wearing lip products a couple of times a week) so I was a little apprehensive to try this lip stain. I was given the shade Adore to test, which is described as a peachy rose, but I would say reads pinker on my lips.
"I felt a slight tingle with the application, but this soon subsided and I was amazed at the colour left after wiping it away. I'd definitely recommend ordering the 'peel and reveal' to make the removal process easier, as it was a little fiddly to remove with a damp tissue.
"Overall, I liked the result and that this stain is totally transfer proof. It may be because I tested a lighter shade, but I did find it wore off after a few hours, so I'd be keen to try a darker shade to see if it holds up better. It left my lips a little dry, so I'd probably reserve wearing it to a couple of times a week, and thoroughly exfoliate beforehand to ensure a smooth application."
