I'm 24 Years Old and Have Never Dyed My Hair—This Is the Color Trend I'd Try
Calling all auburn-hair lovers! From award-winning actresses, models, and singers to social media influencers with huge followings, the auburn (or copper) hair-color trend has been spotted everywhere for months. It began to pop up in late spring right at the conclusion of award season and hasn't been out of trend since then. Fiery locks have always had a hold on society, and there's a shade of red that's absolutely meant for you.
Keep reading to discover which hairstyles you should be adding to your vision board for the ultimate hair inspo and the products that will make your dream hair possible and bring on the star power.
How gorgeous is this shot of Kaia Gerber at the second annual Academy Museum Gala? There's something so effortlessly chic about this shade of red. It's the perfect blend of auburn and brown, adding just enough color to frame her face beautifully. Gerber's slight waves add a hint of Old Hollywood glam to an otherwise ultra-modern look.
One of my biggest resolutions for this upcoming year is exploring retro-inspired hairstyles. Euphoria star Maude Apatow shows us how it's done with a rust-colored bob with a flirty flip at the ends. Apatow's hair leans a little more orange than red in this pic, showing just how many gorgeous shades of auburn are out there. My favorite part? The sweet hair clip for a little sparkle.
If you have naturally curly hair like me, it's easy to get comfortable with the colors and styles you've been told work best for your hair type and skin tone. Take this as your sign to have a little fun with your hair by adding a splash of copper to your locks. Chloe Bailey arrived at the Miu Miu S/S 23 Paris Fashion Week show sporting these vibrant honey-colored locs, and I'm secretly hoping she keeps them year-round.
While I can't claim that Kendall Jenner started the auburn-hair trend, it would be a fair statement to say she definitely had a major hand in its popularity. Yes, Jenner seemingly pulls off every look on and off the runway, but this auburn hair takes the cake for me. It's a warm, vibrant, and classic take on the trend that I can't help but appreciate.
Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor also stunned during Paris Fashion Week. The actress arrived at Louis Vuitton's S/S 23 show sporting head-to-toe Louis Vuitton and a gorgeous auburn lob that turned heads. Dynevor's hair gave her a gorgeous glow and added a subtle hint of edge to her high-fashion look.
If auburn hair can make me look as chic as it makes Syndey Sweeney look, consider me influenced. The blonde Euphoria star made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last March as a redhead. This also happens to be one of my favorite ways I've seen the auburn-hair trend pulled off: glossy, stick-straight strands with sweeping bangs to frame the face.
Actress Barbie Ferreira appeared on the red carpet at the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscar Party sporting a stunning sky-high auburn pony. Matching her eye shadow to her new hair color was the perfect finishing touch for the look.
Essential Products to Promote Healthy Hair
Now that we've got the inspiration part down, it's time to go over the nitty-gritty parts of haircare. While dying your hair can be quite damaging overall (you are, in fact, stripping your hair of its natural color and coating it with another), there are products on the market that can ensure healthy dyed hair. Below are the treatments, shampoos, conditioners, and styling products that can make a huge difference in the way your newly dyed hair looks and feels. The 15 products listed below can increase the vibrance, fullness, and sheen of your hair without all the strong chemicals that risk further damage.
Treatments
Olaplex's bond-building treatment prepares your hair for deep repair while also strengthening and rebuilding hair bonds and protecting your dyed hair from further damage.
Color Wow's award-winning treatment keeps the hair silky and frizz-free with what can only be described as a mini keratin treatment in a bottle.
This ultra-nourishing hair mask by Pureology uses a powerful all-natural blend of coconut and avocado oils to moisturize and soften color-treated hair.
Olaplex's concentrated hair treatment will strengthen your strands and reduce breakage while also restoring its healthy appearance and texture.

Shampoos and Conditioners
It's all in the title. Color Wow's Color Security Shampoo is a clean, sulfate-free shampoo that's free of ingredients known to leave residue, leaving your hair clean, healthy, and vibrant.
This conditioner gently detangles, hydrates, and smoothes with a formula that's weightless and nongreasy and won't distort hair color.
Oribe's Shampoo for Beautiful Color moisturizes and conditions color-treated hair to preserve color, combat breakage, and protect your lovely locks from the elements.
This conditioner by Oribe targets damaged, color-treated hair with a highly concentrated formula powered by plant extracts, keratin, and honey-derived humectants.
Olaplex's No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner work to protect and repair damaged hair cuticles to their natural healthy state.
Styling Products
This five-in-one styling treatment by Living Proof conditions, strengthens, and adds shine while also providing both heat (up to 450° F) and UV protection.
Great for all hair types, Dae's three-in-one styling cream adds body and shine to your strands while also taming frizz and adding the moisture your hair needs to thrive.
Oribe's best-selling Supershine Moisturizing Cream deeply nourishes and protects color-processed, dry, and frizzy hair with a powerful formula packed with amino acids and jojoba.
This is a leave-in styling cream that's infused with argan oil and behentrimonium chloride (an antistatic and conditioning agent) so your hair can feel and look healthy all day long.
Lastly, this sculpting gel by Redken will provide your hair with a super-strong, flake-free hold you can count on. It also visibly adds thickness with a high-shine finish.
