The Summer Sandal Trends You'll See From Coast to Coast

You know that incredible feeling you get when you finally slip on a pair of sandals for the first time after winter? Get used to it—summer will be hot and long this year. Which means it's time to start thinking about the summer sandal trends you'll want to try out. As we do, we scoured the S/S 18 runways, our Instagram feeds, and the inventory of some of our favorite e-tailers for indications as to what the top trends will be this season. So now we're bringing you the five styles that will soon be on the feet of fashion girls everywhere.
As to be expected, the sandal trends of 2018 are influenced by the S/S 18 runways, so among them, you'll find the It color of the season, '90s influences, and other of-the-moment characteristics to choose from below. But we give you fair warning: You're going to want to put the boots you've been wearing for the past seven months into storage after reading this.
PVC has emerged as a major trend on the market. While you'll see it in the form of bags and outerwear, it's footwear that presents perhaps the most accessible way to embrace the fun look. The S/S 18 runways of Alexander Wang, Tibi, Valentino, and Off-White were just a few indicators of that.

In keeping with the '90s revival theme that's taken the fashion world by storm in recent seasons, square-toe sandals harken back to the minimalist footwear of that decade. Indie shoe brand By Far has really nailed the look.

News flash: Lavender is everywhere right now, and we're definitely not mad about it. You could really go for it and wear head-to-toe lavender or you could just dip a toe in (no pun intended) with a cool pair of purple sandals.

Another '90s trend is back, and it's a bit more polarizing than square-toe styles. Toe-ring sandals are perhaps one of the biggest and freshest trends of the season. If you're looking for someone to thank for it, you can thank Phoebe Philo of Céline for reintroducing the trend to the world last spring.

If you're on the hunt for something a bit more classic than, say, PVC sandals, look no further than woven styles. Whether in leather or straw, they make for perfect vacation shoes—especially when done in a bright color.

We'll gladly take the 95-degree heat if it means we get to wear any of these.
