These Photogenic Trends Are Officially Taking Over, and I've Got the Proof
There are certain pieces in your wardrobe that you can't help but photograph when wearing, whether it's a bold print, touchable texture, or fun silhouette. Sometimes, though, these items look even better in a photo than they do in real life. Of course, sometimes the opposite happens, as you can't always win. But today, I want to focus on the former: the photogenic trends people can't stop Instagramming.
I've spent more time scrolling through social media this year than I'd care to admit (being stuck at home will do that to you), and I've noticed a few trends that are suddenly everywhere. Not only do they look stunning in photos, but they're also all poised to get even bigger next year. From the bold color already being dubbed 2021's It hue to the jewelry trend basically made for Zoom calls, below are the five photogenic trends officially taking over my Instagram feed.
1. Bubblegum Pink
On Michelle: Remain Birger Christensen coat
Bubblegum pink is the biggest color trend of 2021. The bold, happy hue is already popping up all over my Instagram feed on some of the most influential fashion people, and it makes me do a double take every time. This fun pop of color is a nice change from the heavy neutrals that have been trending for the past few winters.
On Aimee: Song of Style Genevieve Top ($148) and Daphne Mini Skirt ($138)
2. Ripped Jeans
On Ellie: Agolde jeans; H&M boots; Chanel bag
Nineties trends cycle in and out of fashion constantly, and the latest one to experience a resurgence is ripped jeans. The jagged texture is eye-catching in photos and adds interest to even the simplest of outfits.
On Camille: Maison Margiela jacket
3. Second-Skin Tops
On Claire: CapricornsStudios top
Second-skin tops have been trending hard this year and show no signs of slowing down. They're a cool alternative to your favorite T-shirt or bodysuit, and a fun print makes an outfit pop.
On Mecca: Asai top; BY FAR shoes
4. Chunky Chains
On Cass: Storets sweatsuit; Aureum Collective necklace
Blame it on all the Zoom calls, but chunky chain necklaces have been everywhere as of late. Whether layered with other delicate necklaces or worn on their own, a bold chain dresses up any outfit and feels modern yet timeless all at once.
On Chinda: Orseund Iris top; F+H Studios necklace
5. Luxe Knit Sets
On Jordan: Nanushka set
I'm a sucker for texture, so the trending matching knit sets are right up my alley. They're the perfect antidote to at-home style, as a knit set is both comfortable and chic, and the ribbed details are just begging to be photographed.
On Olivia: Song of Style set
Shop the matching Rib Knit Crop Top ($17) and Rib Knit Shirt ($27).
Shop the matching Joslyn Skirt ($148).
Shop the matching Wide Leg Knit Pants ($20).
