A Succinct List of What Miranda Hobbes Would Buy Now
Carrie Bradshaw may be lauded as the style icon of Sex and the City, but looking back, I'd hazard to say that the show's other protagonists were equally prolific in their own ways. These days, it feels like practical-meets-quirky Miranda Hobbes is worthy of recognition. While she may not have had the designer wardrobe (and shoe closet) of Carrie, she managed to balance her practical officewear with punchy individuality, which is no easy feat.
So because I know at least a few women (myself included) who have a bit of Miranda inside somewhere, it felt like the right time to examine how she'd be wearing the trends in 2018. Drawing on photos from the show, it's clear that Miranda circa 2003 had some insight into what we're all wanting to wear today. Read on to check out the key trends to try courtesy of Miranda now.
A Little Something Sheer
Though Miranda's style isn't overtly flashy, she always interpreted trends in her own off-kilter kind of way. Sheer may seem more suited to going out, but these days, there are plenty of quirky options that Hobbes would be all over.
The Cool Pool Tote
Right in step with her practical-yet-punchy aesthetic, Miranda was an early adopter of the peek-a-boo tote. The difference: Now she'd have an iPhone inside.
The Beach Button-Down
We're all for practical fun, and Miranda's beach look seems to fall right in line with modern Jacquemus. Straw hat, lightweight button-down, and a funky pair of sandals make for a winning combination.
The Power Suit
As a lawyer, when she's on the clock, Miranda's all about polish. But she still manages to mix things up with cool accessories or fun colors. She'd be all over the refreshed suiting of 2018.
Available in sizes 0 to 14.
Jacket and Skirt ($42) available in size S.
Funky Mules
Miranda's off-duty looks fit her Brooklyn area code—a little bit casual, a little bit funky, and never overly trendy.
The Statement Slip
Thanks to the resurgence of '90s-inspired slip dresses, it's easy to imagine a modern Miranda picking this as her signature going-out look.
Available in sizes UK 12 to 28.Now you're all set to channel Miranda in 2018.
