Met Gala 2018: The Heavenly Red Carpet Looks You Won't Want to Miss
The Met Gala is undeniably one of the most fashionable events of the year. And even though no one really knows what the inside of the fundraiser looks like (unless you're invited or purchase a ticket, of course), what we do know is that the red carpet looks are consistently inspirational. Leave it to Anna Wintour to throw what is essentially the chicest costume party ever.
Each year, the Met Gala theme reflects the upcoming Costume Institute exhibition, and the choice this year is heavenly… literally. Announced back in November, this year’s gala theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” draws inspiration from religious art.
Though this may at first seem like an odd choice for what is a very sartorial event, many a designer has incorporated religious iconography in the past (we're looking at you, Dolce & Gabbana). From crosses, to gilding, the possibilities are endless—making for a tremendous array of red carpet outfits.
From wild to sophisticated, this year’s Met Gala looks run the whole gamut. And needless to say, Anna Wintour has done it again, inspiring a whole slew of memorable looks among her grade-A guest list. To see some of the most noteworthy looks from the Met Gala red carpet, read on.
