Who else wishes they kept all the scrunchies, headbands, and hair bows they wore in middle school? The childlike pieces have been back in style for a few seasons now, and we're definitely not complaining. We already know of Kate Middleton's penchant for pretty hair accessories, and her latest outfit is no exception.

Attending the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance alongside Meghan Markle and the rest of the family, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a bateau-neck dress, earrings from the Queen's collection, Jimmy Choo shoes, a Zara headband, and an Alexander McQueen bag. The annual event is held in honor of everyone who has lost their lives in conflict, so Middleton's outfit was fittingly respectful and refined, but the headband was the perfect piece to add just a touch of personality.

Another important detail: Middleton's trio of poppies, also worn by all members of the royal family, are symbolic and represent remembrance and hope, according to the Royal British Legion. Scroll down to see what Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle wore to the event and shop similar headbands.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
