What I'm Buying to Dress Better This Spring

Spring on the horizon means another shot at making this coming season even more stylish than the last. After all, no matter how well one dresses, there’s always room for improvement. And for those who feel they’re in a lull or that their style has plateaued, you can always upgrade your wardrobe in little ways that will actually make a big difference in not just how you look but, more importantly, how you feel.

With this in mind, I’ve put together a reasonable little list of the five fashion items I’ll be buying in order to make this spring my best dressed season yet. Think a handful of classics with some trendy pieces sprinkled throughout. From knits to dresses to comfortable footwear—emphasis on comfortable—just keep scrolling to see, read about, and shop the pieces I know will upgrade my style for the months to come.

1. Interesting Knits

Nineties-inspired tanks and atypical knits are shaping up to be big for spring and just might take the place of all our favorite blouses, so there’s no better time to stock up.

2. Comfortable Heels

For me, the key to actually wearing heels in my day-to-day life (and not just to events) is owning cute-but-comfortable pairs that I can wear as easily as other shoes.

3. Fashion-Forward Dresses

As someone who isn’t the biggest "dress person" but loves admiring them on others, I’m hoping to work the chic staple further into my own wardrobe by finding styles that feel more fashion-forward than simply for utility.

4. Pants That Aren't Jeans

I’ll always love my jeans, but this season, I’ve noticed some of my favorite fashion girls opting more for trousers, leather pants, and even trendy, split leggings, and I’m inspired.

5. Polished Outerwear

Spring outerwear can be tricky, but instead of treating it as an afterthought, I'll be investing in polished shackets, blazers, trenches, and more.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
