From Sofia Richie to Olivia Rodrigo—These Gen Z Outfits Have Our Full Attention

Gen Z Says is a bi-monthly column chronicling the latest trends in the fashion and beauty space through the lens of Who What Wear’s own Gen-Z editors. Expect a download on the upcoming class of tastemakers, emerging designers, and shopping and style choices straight from the generation setting the trends.

Here at Who What Wear, we're always documenting celebrity style and the trends driven by Generation Z, so why not combine them both? Celebrities have access to the greatest stylists out there and the best of designers' collections, so there's no doubt they'll walk out with a great outfit. And when you add Gen Z's confidence and playful essence to the equation, you certainly have a winner. It seems like every day another luxury player is adding a young celebrity to their campaigns, and as someone who's been predicting this for a while, it's about time they got on board.

From Olivia Rodrigo to Sofia Richie, it seems like the new crowd of cool girls isn't slowing down their reign in the media. (I'm patiently awaiting Rodrigo's new album and Richie's upcoming fashion label.) Amidst their Instagram photo dumps, you'll find a variety of outfits that include everything from minimalist blazers and vests to eccentric dresses and vintage pieces. Their stylists are certainly putting in overtime. Keep scrolling to see the outfits I've saved from my favorite Gen Z celebrities and similar pieces I shopped out sf you want to get the look for yourself.

To add a little edge to your pristine all-white look, take notes from Sink's outfit and opt for a pair of chunky boots instead of a sandal or flat.

You can easily style sheer skirts for the fall, too. Follow in Zaya Wade's footsteps with an oversize blazer and suede mules.

Jorts may seem like a controversial choice to some, but Sabrina Carpenter proves just how effortlessly cool they can be.

It's hard not to look fantastic when you're a Miu Miu girl, and Sydney Sweeney just wears the brand so well. The simple pieces is easy to recreate on the budget, however, as all you'll need is a camel blazer and combat boots. (If you are going to invest in one of the pieces in the look though, let it be the bag.)

Sofia Richie's minimal style has come a long way from the ultra-colorful and loud outfits she's worn in the past. I'm game with the style change, as it comes with chic outfits just like this one

Red is the "it" color of 2023, and Emma Chamberlain proves just how easy it can be to incorporate the color into any outfit, even one as simple as this one.

Fall may be coming, but to get the most out of the last warm days, a printed dress like this won't hurt to have on deck.

I thought we were leaving pleated skirts in the past, but Olivia Rodrigo is just reminding me that anything is possible in fashion these days. Plus, if you prefer midi and maxi skirts, making the switch won't effect how good of an outfit it is.

After interning at Who What Wear in 2019, she found her way to the team after graduating from LIM College in 2022 with a fashion media degree. She's also spent time writing and working for publications such as Fashionista, Coveteur, and Nylon, but she always knew that Who What Wear was where she was meant to be. When she's on the job, she's perusing runway shows, analyzing the latest thing fellow Gen Zers are up to on the internet, and sharing what she can about the modest-fashion market. You can also catch her dabbling in entertainment, talking about the costume choices of the latest Netflix series or diving deeper into how the plotline affects the viewers in a myriad of ways. Lastly, she likes to create content for Who What Wear's TikTok. Her personal time is spent doing similar but also different things—deep diving into almost every new TV show (Bridgerton, Gilmore Girls, and Stranger Things are favorites), planning her next local getaway (whenever that may be), and reading the latest Emily Henry or Sally Rooney novel in one sitting.
