March Is Here—10 Things to Buy This Month That'll Make You Look Cool
Your warmer weather shopping list is here.
Welcome to 10 Things to Buy, a monthly shopping list that helps you shop smarter by focusing on the 10 key items to add to your cart that month if your wardrobe is in need of a boost. As a Who What Wear editor for the past 11 years, I've spent many hours advising people on what to shop for during any given season, so you're in good hands. Whether you're shopping for cold weather, warm weather, a vacation, or a wedding, I'm here to offer up the most seasonally appropriate suggestions. Be sure to return at the start of each month for more.
It's finally here: the month in which spring begins. It's an exciting time for all the winter naysayers out there, and one of the most exciting times of the year for shopping. Last month, I put the 10 Things to Buy spotlight on anti-trend items to add to your 2026 wardrobe, but this month, I'm focusing on those key pieces that'll make all of your spring outfits look cooler. Some are trends, some are basics, but all are worthy of spending a portion of your shopping budget on. So without further ado, keep scrolling to shop the cool-girl shoe trend that'll be everywhere, the jean color you need, and much more.
Colorful Basics
Some would say that life's too short to wear boring basics 100% of the time, and the start of spring is the perfect time to add some color to your wardrobe. Also, saturated primary hues were all over the S/S 26 runways, so you'll be very much on-trend.
White Jeans
You're not imagining it—every It girl (Kendall Jenner and Elsa Hosk included) is wearing white jeans right now. They're the perfect way to transition your outfits from winter to spring seamlessly.
Wedge-Heel Flip-Flops
While kitten-heel flip-flops were inescapable last year, 2026 will be all about the wedge-heel flip-flops. The internet is already flooded with them.
Tassel Jewelry
Even the most boring outfits are made cool with the addition of a tasseled necklace or pair of earrings. Pro tip: Keep the rest of your accessories minimal when wearing this statement style.
Silk Skinny Scarf
The latest in the scarf trend world is long skinny scarves that you can tie around your waist or drape around your neck. It's a small accessory that makes a massive impact when it comes to outfit coolness.
Knee-Length Skirt
All the cool girls will be wearing '90s-inspired knee-length skirts this spring—trust me. Pair it with kitten heels for the most CBK look.
Pouch Bag
As soon as I saw the models on the Prada S/S 26 runways, clutching those oversized satin pouch bags, I knew we had a trend on our hands. They may not be the most practical of bag styles, but sometimes that's not the most important thing.
Silky Tops
It's time to set the sweaters aside for the time being, and instead of basic T-shirts and tanks, I suggest shopping for pretty tops that can be dressed up or down. The pretty top trend I'm prioritizing is silky ones, such as elegant button-downs and lace-trimmed tanks.
Crochet Flats
A simple shoe swap to make as we head into spring is a leather pair for a braided pair. The textured leather looks rich and seasonally appropriate.
Khaki Denim Shorts
The first shorts purchase I made this year was a pair of khaki denim cut-offs, and I think they'll be a great non-dated swap for denim shorts. Bonus: They go with everything.
