This New Spring Prada Bag Is Already on Every It Girl's Arm
En route to becoming the buzziest bag of the season.
Prada's latest bag release went from unknown to everywhere seemingly overnight. It's called the Route bag, and I first spotted it on Alexa Chung's Instagram feed, then again on WNBA point guard and Prada ambassador Caitlin Clark a few hours later. Spanish content creator Blanca Miró posted about it—as did French writer Monica de La Villardière, Italian actress Benedetta Porcaroli, and Taiwanese model Kiwi Lee Han. Most recently, I saw it on Camille Charrière's Instagram Stories, and the French influencer became the latest in a slew of stylish people to ditch their tiny, inconsequential handbags for the Route, a practicality-first tote with pockets galore and a cool, utilitarian edge that somehow pairs perfectly with every aesthetic.
The spring/summer 2026 style comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials, and the medium and large classic totes are proving to be the most popular among the aforementioned style stars, both in leather and canvas. On the smaller side, there's a cylindrical top-handle option that comes in black or white soft but sturdy leather. There's also a bucket version in black or natural canvas. "The Prada Route bag emerges from a dialogue of contrasts, reinterpreting traditional codes with freedom and transforming function into stylistic expression and visual identity," the brand wrote about the style on its website. Function and style are exactly what this handbag provides. Posts about the Route are focusing on the bag's many pocket options, which can be used for art supplies, makeup, and, in Clark's case, a Sony Alpha 7 Camera used to photograph LeBron James at the Indiana Pacers vs. Los Angeles Lakers game.
The Route first debuted at Prada's S/S 26 runway show, with two versions walking the runway: the black large leather top-handle bag and medium leather tote bag. The collection was all about adaptability, from the apparel down to the handbags, like the Route. "Pieces have an inherent flexibility," the press release stated. "Each of these compositions transforms constantly, insistently, in reaction to the now." This bag brings that influence to life, working with the wearer to be whatever it needs to be for them and their unique, ever-changing life.
Below, shop the Prada Route bag, an instant hit for spring 2026 that we'll be seeing for a long time on the shoulders of It girls across industries.
