This Is Already Summer's It Dress Trend, According to Shopbop, Revolve, and Ref

Yes, I'm aware that it's not yet summer (and technically won't be for approximately another 63 days). But it turns out I'm not alone in wishing we could hit fast-forward, as I've noticed that some of my go-to retailers for warm-weather clothes have already been dropping a major summer dress trend. As I was scrolling through the new-arrivals sections on Shopbop, Revolve, and Reformation, I kept seeing the same dress trend pop up over and over again.

That's when my Instagram feed confirmed it: Smocked dresses are already summer's It trend. Smocking isn't necessarily a new trend (it was a hit last summer, too), but this year, designers are doubling down on '90s-inspired scrunchie detailing in the dreamiest dress shapes. From romantic puff sleeves to pretty floral prints, I'm pretty sure there's nothing more I want in a summer dress. Scroll down to see and shop all the coolest smocked dresses from the retailers that are leaning hard into the trend.
