The New Body-Inclusive Swimwear Brand I Found on Instagram
More than ever before, swimwear brands are making a point to embrace all shapes and sizes in their designs, marketing, sizing, and campaigns. The fashion industry is changing in many ways, and in the body-inclusivity aspect, swim seems to be leading the pack. And the top place to discover these swimwear brands that are shaking up the industry? Instagram, naturally.
While scrolling through my feed last week, I came across posts by body-positive model Alessandra Garcia Lorido wearing chic swimsuits by the new brand Two Piece Mafia. Intrigued by the really great name, I did a little recon and found that the line is designed and manufactured in Miami (aka the swimwear capital of the country) by the girls behind popular swim retailer I Shine 365, and it's made for women of all shapes and sizes. That's a lot of wins.
The brand sums up its mission statement in saying, "Due to Christina’s [Mignon Pino] #bigboobprobs and Katrina’s [Silva] booty, they often found it challenging to find the perfect bikini in a world so saturated with ultra-tiny 'one size fits all' suits and sizing with little variance. With over 10 years in the swimwear industry under their belts, the time had come for them to give the world their own take at swimwear. With body positivity and inclusivity standing as fundamentals, Two Piece Mafia came to be."
