My Friends Asked Me to Find a Cheaper Version of Everything on My Beauty Vanity

My friends are always thrilled when they get to come over and shop at "Sephora"—aka what they call my tiny, product-stuffed apartment. Given the nature of my job, I'm always in excess, and therefore happy to spread the joy by letting my beauty-loving friends have their way with my retailer-esque living quarters. Whether they're looking for the perfect red lipstick, the best liquid liner, or a luxurious face oil, I always have them covered.

What they're not thrilled about, however, are the sky-high price points of the majority of the product sitting atop my vanity. (These are the products I hold most sacred and will let friends try but not take—selfish, I know.) Of course, the sticker shock doesn't stop my friends from falling in love with said items, so they're always asking what products will give them similar results without burning a scorching hot hole in their bank accounts.

Even though I have a champagne taste when it comes to a lot of my staple formulas, there are plenty of affordable options I still love and vouch for. Below, I'm sharing 10 spendy products my friends and I both love, plus their less spendy dupes. Keep scrolling!

Beauty Director

Erin has been writing a mix of beauty and wellness content for Who What Wear for over four years. Prior to that, she spent two and half years writing for Byrdie. She now calls Santa Monica home but grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and studied writing, rhetoric, and communication at University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. She studied abroad in Galway, Ireland, and spent a summer in L.A. interning with the Byrdie and Who What Wear family. After graduating from UW, she spent one year in San Francisco, where she worked as a writer for Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen before moving down to L.A. to begin her career as a beauty editor. She considers her day-to-day beauty aesthetic very low-maintenance and relies on staples like clear brow serum (from Kimiko!), Lawless's Lip Plumping Mask in Cherry Vanilla, and an eyelash curler. For special occasions or days when she's taking more meetings or has an event, she'll wear anything and everything from Charlotte Tilbury (the foundations are game-changing), some shimmer on her lids (Stila and Róen do it best), and a few coats of the best mascara-type product on earth, Surratt's Noir Lash Tint.
