Bella Hadid Just Made This "Boring" Work Staple Look Trendy as Hell

Leave it to Bella Hadid to pluck out one of the most forgettable wardrobe basics from the back of her closet and make it look like a trendy item. The model has proven time and again that she can wear basically anything and look cool doing it, and her latest outfit is truly a testament to that. In between red carpet appearances at Cannes Film Festival, Hadid stepped out in a street style–esque ensemble in which she styled a white button-down shirt—the work staple we all have on hand—as if it were the trendiest item of the year.

I, for one, always overlook my button-down shirts in lieu of other top styles, but Hadid's look just completely reinvented it in my mind. She opted for an oversize shape, wearing it unbuttoned over a mesh tank top and white jeans, which she finished off with PVC sandals and a metallic shoulder bag—the whole look reads quite '90s, one of Hadid's style signatures. By wearing more nighttime-ready pieces like a going-out top and fun heeled sandals, she transformed the plain button-down from an average 9-to-5 staple to a cool alternative to a jacket.
