Ask Any Beauty Editor—They'll Tell You This Product Is the Rolls-Royce of Haircare
The Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil is the luxurious beauty product you need to know about.

One beauty product that I swear by more than anything else is a good quality hair oil. In particular, the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil. Let me give you a brief backstory. I have always had incredibly thick, naturally wavy hair, and thanks to years of bleaching and heat styling, it can't seem to hold any kind of shine. I like to use a hot brush to blow-dry my hair into a smooth, sleek style, and since becoming a beauty editor and learning more about what products to use, from conditioners to hair masks, I realised that a hair oil was the secret to getting silky, shiny ends that looked salon-worthy in seconds.
Since making this discovery, I have tried so many hair oils over the years, but nothing is quite as good as the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil. Ask any beauty editor, and they will tell you that this product is the Rolls-Royce of haircare. Why, I hear you ask? Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil Review
The Formula
As with most haircare products, the formula is key. This hair oil features a blend of French Camellia oil, which is delicately harvested by hand in Brittany, Marula Camellia oil and Wild Camellia oil to provide nourishment to both dry and damaged hair types, alongside softness and shine.
The great thing about this product is that it can be used in so many different ways. You can apply it as a pre-cleanse, a pre-blow-dry oil (it provides heat protection up to 230 degrees), and a finishing oil.
I know that a hair oil can sound scary to some, especially those with finer hair or oily roots, but this particular formula is incredibly lightweight.
The Scent
I know what you're thinking: why are we talking about the scent? The thing is, this product is a little bit like a hair perfume, too. Scented with the much-loved Kérastase perfume, this hair oil contains notes of mandarin, freesia, violet, cedarwood, sandalwood and musk.
It's both fresh and heady, with an expensive-smelling aroma that will earn you so many compliments. In fact, whenever I apply this, my boyfriend comments on how good my hair smells.
The Bottle
In true Kérastase style, this bottle is both sleek and practical. It comes in a 30ml and a 75ml option, and I tend to use the smaller size for travelling. The bigger bottle actually comes with a refillable option too, meaning you don't have to constantly buy a whole new bottle when you run out.
The Results
Before Using the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil
After washing my hair, I let it get about 90% dry before going in with a blow-dry brush.
Applying the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil
I apply the hair oil to my somewhat damp hair before styling.
After Using the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil
As you can see, after blow-drying my hair, it always looks so sleek and shiny.
The Verdict
All in all, I am head over heels for this hair oil. The formula is incredible, the scent is divine and whenever I use it, it makes me feel as if I've just stepped out of the salon. It is more expensive than other hair oils on the market, but a little bit goes a long way, so a 75ml bottle should last you for quite some time. Plus, the fact that it can be used as a pre-cleanse product, a blow-dry oil and a finishing product means that you're technically getting three products in one, making the price much more justifiable.
If you're new to the world of hair oils or are simply looking to upgrade your hair routine, I couldn't recommend it enough.
