I'm Always Thinking Ahead—These Are the 2023 Outfits I'm Already Planning

I can't speak for everyone, but in my experience, 2022 flew by. I feel like I blinked, and it was gone. That's why I've been spending weeks planning out my goals for 2023 to make sure I have time to accomplish them all. Since I'm a fashion editor, I'm sure you can imagine that one of them is to have as much fun as possible with fashion. Getting dressed up is a big part of my job, so my mood board is already filled with outfits I just can't wait to wear.

The holidays are one of the most fun times to swipe through outfit inspiration because my Instagram feed is filled with outfits that people are wearing to the special events that they plan to attend. Of everything I've seen lately, these 10 outfits take the cake and are already at the top of my mood board for 2023.

Metallic is a trend that we saw all over the runways these past two seasons, so you best believe I'm ready to shop it. This look is perfect for the many nights out I have planned for 2023.

We've been wearing cargo pants for quite some time, and I plan on continuing that in the coming years. While it started as a trendier piece, it's growing into something that people might refer to as an anti-trend statement. I love how this look is styled with glitzy accessories and a top that shows off the beautiful waistline on the pants.

While we're on the topic of utility trends, I have to tell you that I've been eyeing the oversize bomber jacket look for quite some time and am ready to dive into it. Pairing it with a miniskirt and tights is absolute perfection.

I love baggy jeans because they're a staple I've been wearing year-round. A structured top plays well into the proportions of them, so a new tailored vest is currently at the top of my wish list.

Ballerinacore will continue on as the ultimate nod to femininity, and I'm dedicated to continuing wearing it. The light-pink tights are my favorite aspect of this look, but the edgy jewelry is also so good.

I always love finding a look that highlights the power of owning good wardrobe staples. Everything in this outfit is something that I'd like to wear for years to come, so naturally, I'm obsessed.

If there's one trend that isn't going away any time soon, it's the preppy aesthetic. Micro skirts and cropped knits make for the perfect combination and have me singing, "Oops!…I Did It Again."

When someone is able to bring together three contrasting colors into one outfit, I'm always impressed. This is an outfit that is inspiring me to do some clashing, and I can't wait to share the results.

If you like watching The Matrix, you'll be happy to hear that a leather trench is a wardrobe staple for 2023. Wearing all black is anything but boring when your look involves sheer, leather, and a cool belt.

While I love dressing up, there's something to be said about wearing sweats and an oversize sweater. When you style everything correctly the opportunities are endless. I love the idea of running my 2023 errands in an outfit like this.

Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor.
