Every "Boring" Piece You'll Need in 2020
We love a compliment-earning, Instagram-worthy, "extra" piece as much as (if not more than) the next girl, but a wardrobe cannot live on those things alone. Those basics we can wear on repeat are essential to keep on hand. Otherwise you'll wake up every day uttering that same dreaded phrase: I have nothing to wear. The remedy? "Boring" pieces. When you hear "boring," you probably think of white tees and denim jackets, right?
Sure, those are certainly essential, but you already know that. What we're here to bring to your attention are those new "boring" items that may not be quite as obvious. These are trends that also happen to be as versatile (and somewhat unexciting) as basics, and they're gaining steam. We highly recommend adding them to your closet before 2019 arrives. Take our word for it and keep scrolling to shop every the 10 "boring" pieces you'll need in 2019.
Anti-Skinny Jeans
No disrespect to skinny jeans, but the new go-to denim style among the fashion crowd is loose jeans. Enjoy this comfortable trend while you can.

Headband
Headbands were all over Prada's S/S 19 runway and fashion girls immediately started wearing them en massee. Luckily you don't need a Prada budget to get in on the trend.

Denim Shirt
Thanks to the obsession with all things Western, denim shirts are a thing again—and they look great with oh so many things.
High-Heel Loafers
Loafers with heels have been rapidly increasing in popularity as of late, and It girls like Emma Roberts can't get enough. Wear them with whatever you'd typically wear with loafers and reap the benefits of the added inches.
We want to wear these with dark-wash cropped jeans and the aforementioned corduroy blazer.
Bike Shorts
Whether or not the bike-shorts trend sticks around forever, it's kind of a big deal right now, and we expect that it will be for at least the next year or so. Luckily they're often pretty cheap, so it can't hurt to stock up.
Chunky Cardigan
Yes, 2018 marked the return of the cardigan. We advise investing in a chunky style that can be layered when it's cold or worn alone when temperatures eventually warm up.
Black Tights
We're not sure that black tights ever really went away (because warmth), but people are really embracing them right now. You'll be glad you invested in a new pair come January.

Dad Fleece
Fleece pullovers are the coziest "boring" piece on the list. They're so cozy, in fact, that we're praying the trend never dies. Go with the "dad" look and wear it with clunky sneakers, or go with the fashion look and wear with with a miniskirt and sparkly heels.
