The 2000s Fashion Trends Everyone Will Wear This Year

If you grew up in the 2000s, you'll probably be surprised to hear that the decade's fashion trends are once again popular. I was born in 1994, and if you ask me, the decade still feels like it happened just yesterday. I grew up watching Britney Spears music videos and vying to get my hands on basically everything Paris Hilton wore. For me, 2000s fashion trends are even more nostalgic than those of the '80s or '90s.

Yes, I'm talking about the teeny-tiny handbags and even tinier strappy sandals that defined the decade's aesthetic. I won't lie, though. I'm thankful that not everything we wore in the 2000s is making it into the 2010s because, well, styles like ultra-low-rise jeans are best left in the past (in my opinion). But if you're as ready as we are to embrace the best of noughties fashion once again, see all the 2000s fashion trends that we're predicting everyone will be wearing this year.

The hair accessories are popping up everywhere this summer, from Gucci to Claire's. The good news is that you don't have to spend a fortune to nail this noughties trend.

2. Tonal Dressing

One thing we'll always remember this decade for was how committed everyone was to achieving a standout look. In other words, the coordination level was 100. No matter which current It color you choose, test it out from head to toe (and channel Destiny's Child while you're at it).

3. Cargo Pants

Yes, the "ugly" chic pants are officially a trend of the present-day, and we're not even sorry to say that we're excited to start wearing the practical style.

4. Tiny-Strap Sandals

Strappy sandals are having a major revival at the moment, and we're thanking icons like Kate Moss who made the shoes look so good.

5. Baguette Bags

Whether logo-filled, baguette-shaped, or the iconic Dior saddle, consider this 2000s bag trend back and better than ever.

6. Baggy Jeans

Trendsetters are already ditching their skinny jeans for looser-fitting pairs, but it's the high-waisted pairs we're after in 2020.

7. Leopard Print

Leopard-print pieces are everywhere, from satin slip skirts to printed bikinis.

8. Baby Tanks and Tees

Cropped T-shirts and tank tops immediately feel summery. You'll find us diving deep into the 2000s trend by wearing them with our cargo pants and tiny bags.

9. Wedge Mules

Ready or not, this shoe trend is bubbling back up again—except that 2020's versions are much sleeker and strappier.

10. Lime Green

Thought you'd sworn off the loud color for good? Think again. Lime green is just one of the colors vying to be the next Millennial Pink, so prepare to see a lot of it in the coming months.

Still not over the '90s just yet? Neither are we. See the trends Kate Moss wore in the '90s that are low-key still relevant.
