Why J.Crew Is Shutting Down Its Bridal Line

Erin Fitzpatrick

It's the end of an era: J.Crew is discontinuing its bridal collection. As Racked first reported, the beloved retailer's line of wedding and bridesmaid dresses are now 30% off, and will not be replenished once they sell out. While many will surely be sad to hear the news, there is a silver lining to look forward to: A spokesperson at J.Crew told Who What Wear the retailer is relaunching an expanded collection of party dresses in the spring to fill the void.

Racked delved deeper into J.Crew's decision to shut down the bridal collection: "Ultimately, said the source, the company was unhappy with how the category was operating," Racked explained. "Certainly there was the option to create cheaper versions of J.Crew's bridal division but the brand holds itself to a certain standard, the source says, and prides itself on its quality, which helps explain why they chose to just cut the line entirely." Word to the wise: Shop the pretty dresses now before they're gone for good!
