Fashion is often considered an industry that privileges the young, a notion that’s hard to argue, given the realm’s preference for teenage models and obsession with 20-something It girls. But the fixation on youth is more than superficial—it has an effect on the fashion career world at large, where internships are often crucial to getting your foot in the door. But are there any exceptions? Must someone get their start in the industry at a young age to succeed?
