Hairstylists Are Tipping the Pixie Bob to Be Spring's Biggest Haircut Trend

If there's one haircut trend that's still gaining momentum as we head into the fourth (yes, fourth!) month of 2024, it's the bob haircut. From Hailey Bieber to Zendaya, we've seen just about every celebrity embrace shorter lengths of late, whether it be the jaw-length box bob or the shoulder-skimming Italian bob. Now, it's the turn of another classic bob to resurface: the pixie bob haircut.

What Is the Pixie Bob Haircut Trend?

Taylor Hill recently cut her long hair into this short pixie bob haircut.

Also known as the "bixie cut", the pixie bob is a hybrid of the two hairstyles, featuring the shorter crop of a pixie cut that sits close to the head, with the addition of the longer lengths that are often at the nape of the neck or swept into a side parting. Celebrities such as Taylor Hill have recently embraced the cut, and hairstylists are anticipating it to be a huge hair trend for spring.

Hairstylist Hollie Clarke predicted that the bixie was going to be big news in 2024 late last year. "The bixie is back," says Clarke. "It's the edgier, art-school sister to the Parisian bob. She’s carefree and a little shorter, and the blunt finish of a classic bob haircut is lost in favour of soft texture and shorter layers. It has a whole lot of face-framing, knocking off that signature corner off of the bob and adding short Bardot-inspired bangs," she says.

The beauty of this haircut is that it's so versatile; it can be cut with a choppy fringe and layers for a textured look or be styled into a sleek silhouette with longer layers. It lets naturally curly hair textures shine, and for instant glamour, it can be swept back for a wet-look vibe.

Piece-y, choppy textures go so well with the pixie bob. I love how Alyssa Coscarelli has styled hers with '90s-inspired flicky ends.

You can achieve a really sleek look like Taylor Russell's by straightening your pixie bob and finishing with a smoothing serum for an expensive-looking gloss.
