The Boot Trend Everyone Owned Last Year Has Vanished—Here's What's Replacing It
Ah, boot season. With the fall quickly approaching, I thought it’d be the perfect time to check in on the status of current boot trends so you and your shoe rack can head into the new season looking as fresh as possible. I scanned the fall shoe trends emerging this season, and I can’t help but notice that the lineup looks a little bit different than it did at this point last year. The one boot style everyone talked about, Western boots, is now hardly to be found anywhere, and seeing as they were such a defining shoe trend, I felt compelled to share the news. Now, if you added a pair to your wardrobe then, I'm not saying to ditch altogether (I’d say that they’re definitely still stylish), but they’re just not trending hard like they were before.
At this point, you’re probably thinking, so which ankle boots are trending hard for fall 2019? Let me introduce you to the lace-up boot trend, which I’m predicting will blow up on the fashion front and define cool ankle boots through this fall and winter. All over the F/W 19 runways, from Brock Collection to Rejina Pyo, we saw ankle boots with Victorian-inspired lace-up details. The trend has a more classic appeal and is easy to style just like you would any other ankle boot, which is why we're predicting that lace-up ankle boots will overshadow Western boots as soon as the leaves start to turn.
Up ahead, see the lace-up boot trend on the runways and then shop the current iterations on the market.
