Meet Monica Rose: The Stylist Behind Gigi and Kendall's Casual Looks

There’s a knack to getting head-to-toe tonal looks right, but it's lucky for some—Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have one particularly good trick up their sleeves: the stylist Monica Rose.

This Los Angeles–based fashion expert and social media force (she has a whopping 784k followers on Instagram) is the guiding hand behind many of the Jenner/Kardashian/Hadid clan’s best looks both on and off the runway, but it’s her artfully crafted grayscale or monochromatic ensembles for the crew's off-duty moments that have become something of a strong signature and an important part within the style pages of 2015.

On Gigi Hadid: Olcay Gulsen cape; Tamara Mellon top; J Brand 23110 Maria Jeans (£170)

"I first started working with Kim Kardashian back in 2007 and the rest is history," Monica says. In that short time, both her own status and that of her key clients' have risen meteorically, so much so that Rose has just launched her own jewellery line to critical acclaim—a collaborative project with Sarah Chloe. It features the spiky but delicate gold and silver pieces a girl needs to finish off her sleek head-to-toe colour-by-numbers dressing.

On Kendall Jenner: Laer biker jacket; Unravel hoodie; Paige Denim Skyline Jeans (£198); Givenchy bag.

"Creating off-duty looks is different, but I actually enjoy doing so because I can tap into each client's personality—it's more personal than creating a red carpet look," explains Monica, stating that the way these standout ensembles come together isn’t as meticulously mapped out as one may imagine. "It's all very instinctual—I work off instinct and what I'm into at the moment, but it's definitely a collaborative effort with each individual client per project. I'm such a perfectionist, but at the same time, I love when the overall aesthetic is effortless and does not look 'perfect.'"
