Ever since Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber announced their engagement, the two have been inseparable. No, really—they haven't left each other's sides, so much so that it's suddenly newsworthy when we spot one of them emerging solo. From NYC to London, Bieber and Baldwin (wait, has nobody came up with a cute couple nickname for them yet?) have proved themselves quite the celebrity It couple—with the wardrobes to show for it. We've spotted them in coordinating dad sneakers and outfitted in every hypebeast/hypebae's dream wardrobe.

Up until now, though, it's been Baldwin whose signature edgy, streetwear-inflected ensembles we've talked about at length, but Bieber clearly isn't okay with sitting back and letting his model fiancé take up the sartorial spotlight. No, he's a style star in his own right, okay, and recently we've noticed him making a concerted effort to up his 'fit game, presumably just to prove it. What started as a few innocent pool slides and Hawaiian-print bro shirts quickly evolved into an aesthetic in their own right, one that's cultivated by the genius stylist Karla Welch. We see what you're doing here, Bieber.

We're not saying that HB hasn't been serving up killer style these days (she has), but we can't help but wonder, with a budding style icon like Bieber by her side experimenting with so many new looks, is Hailey ever annoyed that he's been upstaging her street style? After all, she's the one who's more known for how she dresses, and here comes Bieber trying his hand at the whole fashion thing. Stealing your thunder a bit, Hailey? Scroll down to see Justin's standout outfits as of late and decide for yourself how you think Hailey feels about it all.

Phase 1: A street style star emerges

Outfitted in a Rhude tie-dye hoodie and Nike x Off-White sneakers, the singer proved he can do more than just tell the world how (very) off-duty he is right now; he can nail a 2018 trend while doing it.

Phase 2: We're sensing a pattern here

If it ain't broke… Bieber saw our interest in his tie-dye hoodie and raised us an entire tracksuit in a (somehow) even more vibrant array of colors. Meanwhile, Hailey's subdued black ensemble seemed to pale in comparison.

Phase 3: A "dad" fashion icon in the making

Bieber hit his stride here, swapping out the tie-dye for an arrestingly bright Gucci tropical-print shirt and finishing off the look with pool slides. Dad Bieber, everyone.

Phase 4: He's cultivated a full-blown aesthetic

This is peak Bieber fashion. From the leaf-print shirt to the high-water trousers and thick tube socks, he's leaned way into the dad aesthetic, and we have to admit it's working. Sorry, Hailey—your look is cute too, but are those Balenciaga tube socks? Epic.

The jury's still out on Hailey's thoughts and feelings.
