How to Make Your Standard Button-Down Look High-End

There are two universal ways of wearing your go-to blouse—button it up and leave it hanging, or tuck it in. While both options undoubtedly work and look polished, there's actually a new way to completely reinvent your blouse and make your weekend or work look feel anything but standard.

We've been seeing a slew of fashion girls embrace the crossover shirt look this season. And while you can certainly purchase tops that are already crisscrossed, you can actually easily make your own version using the button-downs you already have in your closet. Below, we're showcasing how to elevate your favorite shirt into the It silhouette of the season.

The Crossover trick:

Step 1: Unbutton your shirt about five or so buttons.

Step 2: Take the side with the buttons and tuck it into the opposite side of your pants.

Step 3: Fold the non-buttoned side over the other side and tuck it into your pants.

Step 4: Unbutton the remaining buttons so the shirt doesn't bunch up.

We love this style top with the front pockets because it can be dressed up for work with sleek trousers or down with jeans on the weekends.

Take a cue from the styling right here and add a skinny scarf to your look.

These vertical stripes will instantly elongate your silhouette.

You'll want to live in this breezy blouse all summer long.

This floral print is subtle but still statement-making.

You legit can never go wrong with a crisp white blouse—a classic in every way.
