Now that you’re here, I’m guessing you’re probably wondering what in the world I mean by "fashion suit.” The answer, I’m pleased to say, is actually much simpler than you’d expect. A fashion suit is any form of tailoring that has classic elements but also possesses one or more of-the-moment twists. Such twists can include but are not limited to an oversize or belted jacket, trendy print, unexpected bottom, such as a skirt or shorts, and more. It goes without saying, but the prevalence of fashion suits is thanks to the omnipresent tailoring trend that has been gaining steam for several seasons now but only getting bigger.
So why am I making such a big deal out of this? Well, as someone who has only just recently dipped her toes into the world of suiting, I’m particularly excited by all the non-boring options that are available for the coming season. Where I once heard suits and thought of a sad corporate dress code, I now think of endless possibilities for cool outfit ideas for anything from a party to the office—but a fun office, of course.
