I'm the Director of Trends at a Shoe Company—These 3 Styles Have My Attention
Our fashion editors have been covering the key footwear trends of the season over the last few months, including the coveted sandal silhouettes and sneaker styles. Well, we thought we’d continue the conversation. Only this time, we wanted to get the sartorial perspective from another industry insider. We tapped Regina Popp, senior director of fashion and trend at shoe mecca DSW.
It is literally Popp’s job to lead a fashion team and direct the brand on noteworthy trends, so we thought her POV would be particularly intriguing. She shared with us the three key shoe styles she’s absolutely loving at the moment and thinks you might be interested too. The picks really do run the gamut, including statement-making styles as well as versatile options.

Chic Slides
"With the sun shining and brighter days ahead, beach-to-barbecue slides are an easy throw-on staple. Birkenstock offers comfy Eva classics in pop colors that are destined to brighten your day, and I will be sporting these beach-ready slides in hot pink. Will also be purchasing lilac (a color trend of the moment)." — Popp
Neutral Sneakers
"It's all about sneakers. For a fresh pair of white sneaks this spring, try a platform Converse with a floral-print prairie dress or a retro jogger with cutoffs or a tennis skirt. Keep it neutral with classic white or subtle off-white to tan options." — Popp
Strappy Sandals
"Strappy sandals and slides continue to have a moment. Skinny straps plus a square toe make up a modern version of strappy sandals that looks both sophisticated and chic. Toe rings, thongs, and ties up the leg are also trending." — Popp
