My number one goal when putting an outfit together is to make sure that I walk out of the door feeling confident. (Feeling comfortable is a close second.) Living in NYC makes this goal so much more important because truthfully, every part of the city is a personal runway. If I'm going to step onto a packed subway car, I'm going to do it in style. And my colleagues Sierra Mayhew and Anna LaPlaca understand this logic fully. Whenever I see them at the office or double-tap their photos on Instagram, I immediately need to know where their chic 'fits are from, and lately, they've been sporting SPANX.

Known for its comfortable and reliable shapewear and intimates, SPANX has always offered the perfect pieces for busy people who still want to keep comfort and style at the forefront. Now, the brand offers a wide range of closet staples including jeans, bodysuits, blazers, and trousers. All I can say is I'll take one of everything in each color.

Below, Sierra and Anna styled some looks from SPANX that have been getting them through a busy fall in NYC with an overload of compliments. If you want to see how they styled these wardrobe essentials, which will eventually become the backbone of their closets, keep scrolling.

"My everyday style leans on crisp tailoring, elevated basics, and a clean palette of neutral colors. Fact: You can't go wrong with modern suiting. A classic black pantsuit simply is—and always will be—an outfit win. This one from SPANX took power dressing to another level, though, with its thick but pliable fabric that holds you in while giving a structured look. I particularly love the look of the collarless blazer, it's so sleek over a simple ribbed top. Since suits like these basically style themselves, I just added a pop of color through red sandals with tonal tights and a bright bag to give the look a fashion-girl spin."—Anna LaPlaca, editor

"Fall is the time of year when my sense of style revolves around classic pieces. I love the flare on these jeans just as much as I love their stretchy fabric. A good black turtleneck will take you very far in life, and this one is a bodysuit—and I'm absolutely obsessed. You will see me layering it over and over again. Every single item I chose was comfortable and so incredibly flattering."—Sierra Mayhew, editor

"Fall never fails to bring with it this feeling of going back to school, and this season especially, going back into the office. Corporate dress codes were a theme that designers tapped into a lot this season. I opted for this shift dress to get the same look and belted it for added shape. To me, this look is strong and powerful—my confidence was through the roof trotting around Midtown Manhattan in it."—LaPlaca

"It takes a lot for me to consider adding a new pair of jeans to my collection because I'm currently bursting at the seams with options, but this pair from SPANX is so unique in its design that I'll need to have it on hand. It has the look of raw denim but feels as comfortable as sweatpants thanks to the stretchy fabric and hidden core-shaping technology. When I first realized they were pull-on, I was a bit shocked but they were so easy to put on and so flattering from front to back. I chose the perfect wash and will be styling it with bodysuits and blazers on repeat. SPANX is the perfect place to build a capsule wardrobe where you can create a zillion outfits from just a few strong pieces."—Mayhew

"It’s all about this SPANX turtleneck. The fabric is a dream to wear and really smoothes everything out. This rich shade of chocolate brown is having such a moment right now and feels so perfect for the start of fall, so I played into the warm tones and piled on the gold jewelry—stacking bangles and wearing chunky earrings—to lean into the '80s excess aesthetic that's gaining ground right now. Since a simple top and jeans is my daily uniform, I paired the turtleneck with a trouser-like wide-leg style. This is a combination I know I’ll have on repeat all season."—LaPlaca

"I have so much fun playing with trends all summer, but by fall, I'm spending more time at home and wearing things that genuinely make me feel good. I spend most days of the week working from home and am always looking for something cozy to wear. These leggings that feel more like fancy pants are an easy staple to have on repeat, and I love a soft and cozy hoodie. This one felt as smooth as butter."—Mayhew
