How did your blog first come about?

I had been a fashion editor at national newspapers and magazines but started my blog as a creative outlet just before my second child was born. I didn’t necessarily want to talk about breastfeeding, but I did want somewhere to discuss all the fashion and interiors and stores that interested me and my friends who were also on maternity leave. That was just over six years ago. I started taking my Instagram seriously when I left my position as fashion and beauty director of Look to go freelance.

How has your style changed since you first started out in your career?

I have definitely become much more comfortable with who I am and what I'm trying to do. When I worked in an office, I was very comfortable with my work wardrobe but terrible with casual wear. Now the two have merged, but as I get older, I have a stronger sense of how I want to look and also what suits me.

Style Notes: Here, Davies is summer style embodied in this Dodo Bar Or skirt and Jigsaw gingham top pairing. A raffia bag is the perfect finishing touch.

Style Notes: Leopard print never looked so chic. We love how she styles this & Other Stories skirt with a cool white blazer and box-fresh trainers.

Style Notes: Erica Davies was way ahead of the crowd when it comes to the skirt co-ord. She pulls off the oversized silhouette and loud print of this John Lewis number with aplomb.

What key style lessons did you learn from working as a fashion editor for 15 years?

That you will always look better in something if you feel comfortable in it. Also, personal style doesn’t mean slavishly following trends—it’s about having the confidence and the choice to decide how you wish to present yourself. And if you feel great, that’s never wrong!

Do you have any rules when it comes to posting on Instagram?

I post once a day, usually in the evening. But I’m interested in starting conversations or having something to say, so I try to make sure there’s a reason for me posting something.

You’ve addressed the issue of body image in your posts before. What advice would you give to women who are struggling with this?

There’s real power in accepting who you are right now—not the person you’ll be if you put on weight, lose weight, tone up, grow your hair or straighten your teeth. It’s also important to remember that no one’s life is as perfect as their Instagram!

Style Notes: Take note for autumn. We never thought that yellow, beige and lilac would work together so well, but somehow Erica makes it work.
