The 2 Spring Trends London Girls Are Taking Seriously This Season
Hands up if you're ready for a refresh. Spring is most definitely (finally) in the air, and our wardrobes are ready for it. Time to banish the worn-out woolen coats, say so long to the 60 deniers and get down to fashion business. Fortunately for us, we've got a little guidance in the very chic form of London model, influencer and high-street shopping pro Emma Louise Connolly.
As a self-confessed lover of cold-weather dressing, she actually feels just as tentative as you might do about jumping into the newness of spring: "I controversially actually prefer dressing for winter—I like layering and styling in that way," Emma tells us. "I am also not a legs-out kinda gal… I guess this goes back to my tomboy sense of style. But I do love spring. I always look forward to the transition and the opportunity to wear lightweight clothing and sunglasses."
So give the girl the right trends, and the change can begin. Below Emma shares the fashion moments that are going to matter for her this season, cherry-picking the crème de la crème of H&M's spring collection as her wardrobe builders. Keep scrolling to see what she discovered from the fresh drop and how she's styling it up.
One of spring's most important trends revolves around ruffles—the big kind. Off-the-shoulder frills are designed to flatter, and there's something so tempting about a black dress that works hard for the money. This one looks bohemian and breezy when worn loose and paired with Emma's turban headband and tasselled earrings (perfect for a getaway wardrobe too), but simply add a belt to cinch and some ankle boots, and you've got a city look you can easily wear to the office.

"Be bold," says Emma. "Don’t be scared to wear something you haven’t worn before—that’s my mantra." So that would explain why she went for the double polka-dot action then. Spots are having a moment this season, and because monochrome spots are so subtle, there's no reason not to play around with them. And when it comes to making any fresh trend feel unique, it's wise to consider re-styling how pieces are delivered to you on a rail—if you're short, tuck things in, for example. Or, if like Emma you're not as into voluminous shapes that could potentially swamp you, get knotting. "Tying up the top in the polka-dot outfit worked better for me, it gave me a better shape," she explains.
