Here's Everything Our Editors Wore to London Fashion Week

And just like that, London Fashion Week was back, and what a welcome return it was. While the nation reverently paid its respects, so too did the designers, and among the tributes to the Queen and moments of silence during the shows were the bursts of colour, texture and vibrancy that felt like a celebration of life itself.

London has always had the reputation of being the rebel child of fashion month. While Paris has its couture roots, Milan is an artistic mix of high-fashion prints and colour, and New York is lofty and cool, London has always championed anarchic edge, and the city's playful attitude came into full effect this season, making the most of the post-pandemic feeling of dressing up and heading out.

So what did Who What Wear's editors wear to celebrate this momentous return to statement dressing? In typical fashion, we all brought our own personality to the mix, wearing everything from ethereal midi dresses and strappy sandals to glossy leather blazers and plenty of pops of colour. So if you fancy a little new-season inspo or simply fancy a nosy into our wardrobes (and I don't blame you), keep scrolling to see what we wore to London Fashion Week 2022.

LOOSE TAILORING + COWBOY BOOTS

"Whenever I need to feel my best, e.g., when rubbing shoulders with the most stylish at fashion week, I always turn to a power suit. I was so impressed with this new-season H&M two-piece when I bought it recently it was an easy decision to wear it on day one. The quality is way beyond its high-street price tag, and the design details on the blazer—like the slightly nipped-in waist and subtle rounded shoulder—elevate it from your average grey suit. I paired it with a trusty white tank top (my favourite layer under jackets for this transitional weather) and my beloved COS crossbody, which is deceivingly roomy and practical. It’s sold out right now, but I’m keeping a close eye on restocks to share with you immediately."  Emily Dawes, Affiliate Editor

A MAXI DRESS + GLADIATOR SANDALS

"This is my favourite dress, so I knew it had to be part of my fashion week wardrobe. I love the incredible statement sleeves as well as the lace detailing and high-low hem of the skirt. I've been wearing this Aje style year in, year out. I kept the rest of my look simple with tanned ankle-tie sandals and my Loewe hammock bag."  Poppy Nash, Managing Editor

A CORDUROY SUIT + ANKLE BOOTS

"I love suits—who doesn't? If you immediately said 'me,' then you just haven't found The One yet. A great suit is the epitome of power dressing. You walk a little taller, feel a little cooler, and honestly, I love any outfit that takes as little pre-planning as possible. As soon as I saw this high-street suit, I knew it was a winner, and I can't wait to wear the pieces again separately with a sleek shoulder bag throughout the rest of autumn."  Remy Farrell, Shopping Editor

A LEATHER BLAZER + WIDE-LEG TROUSERS

"For my only day at LFW, I decided to go for a slightly elevated take on one of my favourite outfit combos to wear: an oversized blazer and wide-leg trousers. I wore a brick-red leather Nanushka blazer and a pair of camel trousers from ACNE Studios to create an autumnal feel to the look. For an extra pop of colour, I opted for my ACNE Studios Musubi bag in this gorgeous muted green. For extra comfort, I threw on my trusted pair of converse trainers."  Remi Afolabi, Video Content Creator

A FLORAL DRESS + LEATHER JACKET

"I'm a long-time Rixo fan—I actually have a very similar dress to this one from the girls' very first collection. They are comfy, flattering and easy to style into my retro-looking wardrobe. Here, I've combined a new midi style (which isn't quite out yet) with an old red leather Uterqüe jacket (RIP, Uterqüe!), Tissa Fontaneda bag and plenty of gold jewellery." — Hannah Almassi, Editor in Chief

A TRENCHCOAT + MIDI DRESS + LEATHER SANDALS

"I was only able to do one day of London Fashion Week this season, and my sartorial priority was comfort. My days of teetering around the capital for hours on end in heels are over, so I turned to the comfort of my chunky flip-flips from Dune. This is my second pair in about four years. The last I wore relentlessly until the toe posts came loose. You can imagine my delight when, a couple of weeks back, I realised my favourite sandals were 1) still available and 2) heavily discounted. Pairing them with more of my wardrobe favourites—a panelled leather trench from Jigsaw from a couple of years ago, which is so timeless (the brand still makes it) and easily my most-complimented bag, the Gabine from Charles & Keith. In fact, the only new thing I'm wearing is this beautiful Rixo dress—probably its last wear of 2022. I wasn't going to let the opportunity of giving it its LFW debut pass me by." — Maxine Eggenberger, Acting Assistant Editor

A SUIT + A STATEMENT SHIRT + PLATFORM HEELS

"If like me, when you thought of Mint Velvet you thought of beautiful dresses, luxe knits and chic boots and accessories, then you're missing a key category for the brand. Their timeless tailoring is a winner for the fit alone, and from the moment I tried on this suit I couldn't wait to wear it again. I tend to struggle with the fit of trousers, but these have just the right amount of stretch and support to hug in all of the right places and were the perfect length to wear with a platform heel making my legs look that little bit longer (plus there's 3 leg lengths to choose from so no more dragging hems, sorry Zara). And now, a shout out to the shirt, the only time I've worn gold lamé on a Tuesday morning and it made perfect sense. Next on my list, their silver sequin shirt dress–it's a showstopper."–RF

A SHIRT DRESS + LEGGINGS + CHUNKY BOOTS

"The beauty about this Rixo dress is that it can be worn in multiple ways, and on this occasion, I decided to add a little edge (and combat the cold) with leather leggings and a pair of Doc Martens boots. If it were any colder, I would have thrown on a trench coat, but since the whether was neither here nor there, a waistcoat was perfect. Later in the day, I bumped into the lovely Karina who paired hers with cowboy boots and a grey blazer—a look I plan on copying in the near future. Now can we get a little commotion for the dress?"  Joy Ejaria, Social Media Editor

A MAXI DRESS + KITTEN-HEEL BOOTS

"I was so excited to finally wear this Esse Studios dress I bought a month or so ago on Net-a-Porter. The loden green, bodice, square neck and full skirt were all giving period-drama vibes, so I went with that mood and added a neck scarf, Anne Boleyn–inspired pearl necklace and low-heeled boots. An unexpected bag (from a new brand called Mandel) helped break up the block colour of the dress." Hannah Almassi

AN OVERSIZED DRESS + SUEDE BOOTS

"I love the billowing shape and oversized puff sleeves of this COS shirt dress, which I spotted all over Instagram this summer. I've paired it with suede boots to make it work for autumn, but it also looks fab with sandals and trainers. Accessory-wise, I've matched the tan suede of my boots with my Loewe Hammock and added white sunglasses from & Other Stories." — Poppy Nash

A MAXI DRESS + WOVEN FLATS

"Now this is a dress that deserves an outing at fashion week. Harris Tapper's brand of liquid-smooth silky dresses feel as beautiful as they look, and although the obvious thought is to dress them up with heels, flat slip-ons feel much more contemporary. If you love the look of this, the Nikolas dress, I urge you to check out the Klein and the Emme dresses (recently spotted on Adwoa Aboah). I promise you won't find a dress that makes you feel quite as beautiful (or gets quite as many compliments)."  Remy Farrell

A BLAZER + MINIDRESS + COWBOY BOOTS

"I've always been a cowgirl at heart, so I'm loving the revival of the cowboy boot for A/W 22. After thinking about them for weeks, I just invested in these Ganni ones, and it's fair to say it's love. I know I'll wear them on repeat—right now to bring all my dresses into autumn, and then with jeans and under wide-leg trousers come winter. Speaking of dresses, no one does a print quite like Rixo, and this tiger-striped mini will be getting a lot of wear this year. It's been great for summer, but with Arket's iconic black blazer thrown over it, it feels autumn (and dare I say party-season) ready in an instant." — Emily Dawes

A HALTERNECK DRESS + KNEE-HIGH BOOTS

"I didn't realise just how much I needed a halterneck dress until now. This floaty, light, ethereal pop of colour was as much of a joy to wear as it is to look at, and even though I was a little bit chilly in the first of the truly autumnal weather, I didn't want to put on a coat and cover up this showstopping moment. As it was fashion week, I went for the same sturdy M&S boots I've been wearing for years, but next time I wear this dress, it will be with party shoes. Mark my words." Remy Farrell
