8 Easy Winter Trends Fashion People Are Starting to Wear
Call me crazy, but I love winter—partly because of all of the cozy clothes that go along with it. The layering and faux fur and velvet and sparkling things and leather are all the things that a fashion person's dreams are made of. And since it's the festive season, it seems like everyone is suddenly very decked out in winter gear and has left fall in the dust.
Being the diligent fashion editor that I am, I've been keeping track of what the many fashion people I follow on Instagram are wearing, and I've singled out eight specific trends I'm seeing a lot of, and I'm only here to talk about easy trends. (Who has time for complicated ones right now?)
Below, you'll find excellent examples of the trends that are suddenly everywhere, along with the very best shopping the internet has to offer for each. Some are accessories, some are fabrics, and some are outerwear trends that'll make an outfit. All are chic.
Sequins
Sequins are a no-brainer during the holidays, but the trend will carry over to spring, based on the numerous sequin appearances on the S/S 23 runways.
Shop the trend:
Colorful Scarves
The simplest way to add personality to even the plainest of winter outfits is with a cozy colorful scarf.
Shop the trend:
Shearling Coats
Even just looking at shearling will make you feel warm. Fashion people are loving it as a lining, an accent, or even an all-over look like with the Toteme coat pictured above.
Shop the trend:
Balaclavas
Just like last winter, balaclavas are again a thing. I suggest shopping for a loose one—they're easier to put on and take off and won't smoosh your hair.
Shop the trend:
Sheer Tights
Although the may not be the warmest tights there are, sheer tights are exploding in popularity. Consider it yet another '90s trend to make a comeback.
Shop the trend:
Rosettes
Rosettes started as a micro-trend, but I think it's safe to say that they've gone mainstream. Rosettes are such a pretty detail to add to an outfit.
Shop the trend:
Menswear-Style Coats
Oversize, boxy coats are as fresh at is gets this winter. The best thing about this trend (in my opinion, at least) is that you can fit a sweater under it.
Shop the trend:
Furry Bucket Hats
Another returning accessory trend from last winter is fuzzy bucket hats. Get ready to make a statement in one fell swoop if wearing one of these.
Shop the trend:
Next up, I ordered four of Reformation's top cardigans and now I see why everyone's obsessed.
