The Best Spring Items That Define Low-Maintenance Luxury

If the words "fuss-free" and "straightforward" are music to your ears, you've come to the right place. Spring and summer can often mean the arrival of difficult trends, from linen dresses that are impossible to keep wrinkle-free to strappy sandals that take years to put on. But if you have little to no patience for tricky pieces, these low-maintenance items will be a savior.

For instance, I've always avoided bringing certain items on trips because I'm afraid that cramming them into my overstuffed suitcase will ruin them—and hats definitely fall into this category. But plenty of brands are making packable versions that don't lose their shape after making the suitcase-stuffed journey to your vacation. Scroll down to shop my three favorite spring items that are the definition of low-maintenance.

Packable Sun Hats

We've all been there: schlepping something delicate through the airport because you didn't want it to get squashed in your suitcase. But you don't have to worry about the sun hats below because they are all designed to be easily packable and will spring back to life when you arrive at your destination.

Machine-Washable Lingerie

A lot of delicates are, well, extremely delicate, but not all lingerie has to be. How many times have you glanced at the label of a bra that says "hand-wash" only to roll your eyes and take your chances with the washing machine? Well, now you don't have to because all of the items below are machine-washable. You're welcome.

Slide Sandals

We get it: You know you're supposed to re-apply your sunscreen throughout the day, but busy schedules and the fear of ruining makeup often interfere. Powder sunscreens are super low-maintenance because you can throw them in your bag and do a touch-up at any time.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
