After every fashion week, we analyze the runway looks in-depth, and one of my favorite undertakings is writing about the color trends that were ubiquitous among the thousands of looks that graced the four cities. Today, I'm homing in on what colors will dominate this spring and for the remainder of the year.

There's no doubt that one of the easiest ways to integrate this year's color trends into your look is by styling them with a pair of jeans. This is particularly ideal for those who are color averse and want to dip their toes into the chroma waters in a subtle way.

Today, I want to share seven specific color trends that go particularly well with blue denim that we're spotting all over the fashion crowd this season. These will unquestionably make your basic jeans look very 2024 and give them a trend-forward touch. Take a peek below and shop plenty of picks to add color to your wardrobe this year.

Burgundy

Call it merlot, black cherry, oxblood, or burgundy—rich dark red appeared on practically every spring runway from designers such as Hermès, Gucci, and Tom Ford, to name but a few. Whether you style a burgundy blouse with jeans or add it to your ensemble via a chic accessory, the sumptuous color pairs perfectly with practically every denim wash.

Rich chocolate brown has been all over the fashion set lately, and luckily, its reign is set to continue well into 2024—making a name for itself as one of the trendy, nontraditional spring/summer colors. For a very 2024 look, pair a sheer brown top with a pair of vintage blue jeans or some brown sneakers with a pair of wide-leg jeans.

Pale Yellow

Sleek, barely there buttery yellow hues will not only enliven and rejuvenate your wardrobe this spring but will also ensure you look altogether on-trend for the new season. The shade has become something of a new neutral—the yellow tone is so subtle that it might look like a deep cream in some lights or a beige in others. Pair it with white or blue jeans as we head into the warm-weather season.

Fiery Red

Vibrant chili-pepper red is here to stay this year. The fashion crowd has been sporting the color in full force for the past season, and there's no denying that the color really pops against blue denim. For a subtle take on the color, opt for a pair of red socks or an accessory to wear with your jeans or throw a red sweater over your shoulders.

Gray

Okay, I know that we tend to think of gray as a neutral in our wardrobes, but it was featured in so many outfits across the spring collections it's absolutely a shade worth noting for 2024. From light silky-silver gray hues to corporate charcoal shades, the understated color palette is anything but boring this year with a myriad of chic styles, silhouettes, and fabrics to choose from. Pair a gray knit with a pair of white relaxed jeans for a chic spring look.

Nautical Navy

Blue hues are having a major moment this season, from vibrant cobalt to pretty pale blue. We saw the whole spectrum of the shade take the spotlight on the runways. But it's a navy palette in particular we're enamored with this season. The soothing hue oozes an old-money aesthetic and leans into the preppy, athletic trend we're seeing everywhere this year. Opt for a sleek sweater, blazer, or polo shirt to pair with your dark-wash jeans.

Blue Denim

It's all about blue denim-on-denim looks this season, an outfit formula that feels fresh and cool. Opt for a shirt or jacket in a matching color to your jeans, which will give your outfit a more streamlined silhouette. But quite honestly, if you don't want to match your blues, that's fine too. You can break the style rules and have fun when it comes to a Canadian tuxedo in 2024.
