The Chic Trouser Trend Rosie, VB and Gwyneth Refuse to Stop Wearing
For many, white trousers are simply a no-go—the fear of spilling your coffee or splattering a drip of red-wine is enough to deter you from gravitating towards the chic shade. For others, white trousers feature heavily in their wardrobe rotation, perhaps styled with tonal white layers during winter or a black cami in the summer.
Celebrities seem to fall into the latter camp. Sure, they probably don't have any qualms with taking frequent trips to the dry cleaners, and are lucky enough to forgo the grubby seats on a morning tube or bus journey; but maybe it's simply due to the fact that a good pair of white trousers has endless styling potential that is simply too good to be sacrificed for fear of stains. Whatever the reason, we've seen loads of our favourite celebrities wear them in recent weeks.
Gwyneth Paltrow wore a black, V-neck vest top with white trousers and white trainers in Beverly Hills.
Flying the flag for white trousers, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted in a pair with a slim, black belt and black vest top when out in Beverly Hills recently. She kept her accessories to a minimum, styling her white trousers with white trainers and a single gold chain necklace. The elegant trousers really don't require many accessories—nor extravagant styling—to make an impact. When worn with a sleek, black belt like Paltrow here, they can be simply paired with heels, trainers or mary janes for a polished look.
Victoria Beckham wore a loose, black vest top with white trousers and black trainers at the Leagues Cup in Florida.
In the same vein as Paltrow, Victoria Beckham wore her white, wide-leg trousers low on her hips with a black Hermes belt when attending the Leagues Cup in August, adding a black vest top and shoes. We can always count on VB to impart some excellent styling inspiration.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in white, wide-leg trousers with a white Ferragamo vest top and gold jewellery.
For a tonal take, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley recently styled her white, wide-leg trousers with a simple, scoop-neck vest-top from Italian brand Ferragamo. The model layered on thick, gold bangles and large earrings, with her hair in a sleek middle parting.
So, if you're looking to freshen up your wardrobe going into autumn, it's evident by now that white, wide-leg trousers are the way to go. They provide the coverage needed to withstand autumn winds whilst giving your outfits a lighter base colour, so no longer will you find yourself in the constant cycle of wearing all-black or dark hues throughout autumn and winter.
And if I still haven't convinced you, check out my pick of the best white, wide-leg trousers on the market right now, below.
