Whether you’re looking for an investment style or a fast-fashion piece, it always helps to get a recommendation (or 10). This is especially true with today’s topic, boots. They’re the one piece I’m probably looking forward to wearing the most come fall. I can’t wait to pair mine with everything from midi dresses to miniskirts to my favorite jeans (there are a lot of those) to trousers. You too? Well, whether you’re in need of a new pair or simply want to brush up on your brand knowledge for a rainy day, continue on for our editors’ favorite boot brands.

Acne Studios

“Acne Studios never fails me. All of its shoes are amazing, but I’ll be a Jensen devotee for life.”

“I got my first pair of Frye boots years ago, and the rumors are true—the quality is amazing. I just bought these after searching for Western boots that are classic enough to wear for seasons to come.”

“Hear me out: Just because Zara is fast fashion doesn’t mean its products don’t last. I’ve had Zara boots in my closet for multiple winters that have held up as well as pairs that cost four times as much. I highly value that in a purchase.”

Saint Laurent

“I’ve owned multiple pairs of Saint Laurent boots for anywhere from three to five years, and not only have the styles held up, but the quality has too—proving they were worthy of the investment.”

Anine Bing

“Let’s just say there’s a reason Anine Bing’s ankle boots have a cult following. They pretty much guarantee compliments anywhere you go.”

Reike Nen

“Reike Nen is being picked up by more and more retailers. The brand’s velvet boots are stunning.”

“Ganni makes boots that make me smile. It’s known for its modernized cowboy boots, and I’m especially digging these wild patent-pink babies. I mean, what’s not to love about crazy boots?’

“ASOS always stocks a great selection of affordable boots each season. I find myself purchasing a couple pairs to rotate into my fall footwear selection.”

Stuart Weitzman

“If you’re looking for quality boots that’ll last you for seasons on end, Stuart Weitzman is my go-to. From on-trend options to timeless silhouettes, there’s a little something for everyone.”

The Row

“It’s no secret that I’m a super-fan when it comes to shoes by The Row—and boots are no exception.”

“Attico always comes out with the most in-demand shoes of the season, and this fall I’m placing my bets on its thigh-high lizard-embossed boots.”

“I love shopping at Topshop for boots that are not only affordable but super on-trend. Its styles are basically straight from the runway. They currently have great Western-style boots, suede styles that look much more expensive than they actually are, and this chic patent pair I already pulled the trigger on.”

& Other Stories

“& Other Stories has a great mix of both classic boots (black patent) and trendier versions (velvet embellished). I can’t wait to wear this pair straight through winter.”

By Far

“I’m a big fan of anything By Far designs, but with the boots in particular, it was love at first sight. The lace-up ankle boots have a prairie vibe to them that feels so current.”

Jeffrey Campbell

“For affordable boots that hit on the season’s biggest trends, I always turn to Jeffrey Campbell’s selection.”
