The Verdict Is Unanimous: This New Volumising Mascara Is Worth Every Ounce of Hype
The new Dior Beauty mascara has impressed the whole team.

If there is one thing we can collectively tell you as a group of beauty editors, it's that there is no universally perfect mascara. You see, everyone has very different mascara tastes.
Whilst some want length, others favour volume and the rest might prioritise lift and curl. Such vastly different requirements are very evident across the Who What Wear UK beauty team. Amongst us, we have fans of tubing mascaras, fans of waterproof mascaras and some of us even lean towards brown mascaras for everyday wear.
For this reason, it's not often that a mascara gets our unanimous approval. And yet, in recent weeks, something amazing has happened. A new mascara launch, in the form of Dior Beauty Diorshow Overvolume Mascara, has found its way into every makeup bag in the office.
With promises of a 440% volume boost, lash-for-lash definition and 24-hour no-transfer wear, the claims are impressive—but does it live up to the hype? Below, find honest reviews from four beauty editors on what it is that makes Dior Beauty Overvolume one of the best mascaras to have ever graced their lashes.
Shannon Lawlor, Beauty Director
"There's no point in sugarcoating this, so I'm just going to cut right to it: this is the best high-impact mascara I think I've ever tried. My very thick, jet-black but poker-straight lashes don't typically get on well with volumising mascaras; they tend to clump everything together and weigh down the ends of my lashes to the point of zero lift. So, whilst I adore some of the Diorshow mascaras and use them often, when I first heard about this new launch, I wasn't as excited as I probably should have been.
"The plastic brush contains countless petal-shaped bristles that coat an impressive amount of product onto each and every lash in just one swipe. In fact, on first application, I was worried the formula was going to be too thick and heavy, but again, I was wrong. It creates an illusion of naturally glossy, super-full lashes with unparalleled ease. Beyond that, it is one of the only mascaras I can think of that holds the curl from my eyelash curler all day long. The tube is undeniably chic, the results are high impact and it didn't budge after 14 hours of wear on an uncharacteristically hot London day. (Seriously, you'll need an oil cleanser to get it off.) It is my new makeup BFF."
Humaa Hussain, Junior Branded Content Editor
"I've tried many mascaras in my time, but the new Diorshow Overvolume Mascara genuinely stopped me in my tracks. From the first swipe, I could tell this was something special; it gives that plush, fanned-out lash effect that looks like you’ve spent ages perfecting it, but really, it’s one quick coat and done. The tube is also a work of art.
"The brush is chunky but precise, catching even the tiny lashes at the corners without overloading them, and I didn’t experience any clumping or flaking throughout the day. I wore it through a full workday and to dinner later in the evening, and it didn’t smudge or give me panda eyes—even without waterproof claims, which is impressive. It gives you that full, fluttery look that lifts the whole face, but it still feels soft and comfortable on the lashes, not stiff or crunchy. Honestly, if you’re after big volume with a bit of polish, this one is totally worth the hype."
Eleanor Vousden, Beauty Editor
"I’m usually a bit scared of volumising mascaras because I hate anything that feels too heavy or thick on my eyelashes. However, Dior’s Diorshow Overvolume Mascara has proved me wrong. Whilst volumising, it leaves my lashes with a lightweight flutter that doesn’t smudge onto my eyelids or flake under my eyes. The large, hourglass-shaped wand really captures every lash and stretches them up and out whilst adding defined volume as it glides through.
"The result is a wide-eyed fringe of dark, velvety lashes. Thanks to the waxes and polymers in the formula, my lashes feel flexible and soft to the touch compared to other volumising mascaras I’ve tried, and I find this helps to keep the false-lash look going all day. My lashes are long but struggle to hold a curl, and this kept my lashes curled for hours. It really is an exceptional mascara choice for those with hooded eyes, like me. It would be remiss not to mention the ultra-luxe packaging, which feels like a little leather Dior accessory that you might pull out of your Lady Dior bag."
Grace Lindsay, Junior Beauty Editor
"Let me start by saying that I am very fussy about mascara. As someone with sparse, straight lashes that struggle to hold a curl, I need a formula that will work hard throughout the day. Plus, as someone with oily skin (especially on my eyelids), I want something that won't flake or transfer. Enter Dior’s newest mascara. When the Diorshow Overvolume Mascara landed on my desk, I immediately fell in love with the chic packaging. A fashion accessory in its own right, I couldn't wait to add it to my makeup bag.
"But how did the formula hold up? Well, not only did it add extreme volume to my lashes, but it held a curl all day long and didn’t end up smudging (even in 20-degree heat). I am so impressed with the results, and I can see myself reaching for this mascara for years to come."
