This At-Home Hair Gloss Is My Best-Kept Secret for Dakota Johnson–Level Shine
It only takes 60 seconds.

I have dull hair. It would be easy to blame it on my occasional dalliance with bleach and heat tools, but honestly, I think it's just its natural state. It's been that way for as long as I can remember, and I've stocked up on my fair share of shine-boosting styling products and at-home hair glosses as a result. Recently, I think I found my favorite one: Oribe's Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment.
As the name implies, it's an at-home rinse (or gloss) that promises to seal the hair cuticle and create lustrous, Dakota Johnson–level shine. Unlike other, similar products I've tried, it actually delivers on that promise. After using it, my hair is shinier than it's been in years, and I have the before-and-after pictures for proof.
My glossy hair icon, Dakota Johnson
Oribe's Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment
This hair treatment has three major benefits. It 1) delivers glossy shine, 2) hydrates and conditions, and 3) softens and detangles. Simply shampoo your hair, squeeze out extra water, and apply it from the mid-lengths to the ends. Let it sit for one minute, and rinse it out. You can skip using conditioner. Or, if you have thick, coarse, or dry hair, you can use it after conditioner.
In the 60 seconds it sits on the hair, plant-derived humectants smooth the cuticle for mirror-like shine. A hydration complex quenches dry strands without added weight, and a polymer blend softens and smooths the hair.

After
After using Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment
I used the hair treatment after conditioner because my hair has been feeling extra dry lately. (The high heat of summer usually does that.) Once I was out of the shower, I let my hair dry naturally and then used my trusty Harry Josh Pro Tools Flat Iron ($190) to give my hair a slight wave. That's it. I didn't use any other products—no hair oils or shine sprays.
Let's just say I was more than happy with the result. My hair had a visible luminosity that it didn't have before. Each strand was smooth and shiny, reflecting light beautifully. It was also incredibly soft. (Since I swim often and deal with dry, tangled hair as a result, this was altogether shocking.) It felt silky, and my brush glided through it with ease. It's officially the closest I've ever come to achieving Dakota Johnson–level shine.

I've vowed to use this hair treatment once a week until it gets discontinued (please, no!) or I stop caring about having glossy, expensive-looking hair (never!).

Last but not least, Oribe's Supershine Moisturizing Hair Cream is a must. It's a leave-in conditioner designed for medium to thick hair. It moisturizes, smooths, and gives the hair even more high-gloss shine. It's a lifesaver for second- and third-day hair when it starts to get a little dry and dull but you don't want to shampoo yet.

My hairstylist recommended I use this hair mask once a week. I've been using it consistently for months, and it's really made a difference; my hair is softer, smoother, and healthier-looking. The best part? I can get two uses out of one $13 packet.
Here's another shine-boosting hair mask I love. It was developed with Chris Appleton, aka Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez's hairstylist. Thanks to Mediterranean-derived marine actives, it delivers glossy, expensive-looking shine without weight.
I also love this shine spray from celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons.
This is one of my original shine-boosting staples. It works so well; here's proof.
