Sorry Labubu, This French Hairbrush Just Became the Chicest Handbag Addition Amongst Fashion Girls
This not-so-humble hairbrush has become somewhat of a status symbol.

Sure, I've learned a lot of very helpful scientific information throughout my many years as a beauty editor, but a skill that can't be taught? My ability to spot a future cult product before anyone else even knows its name. And when I was first introduced to luxury French hairbrush brand La Bonne Brosse back in 2022, I knew it was only a matter of time before the brushes became beauty's most wanted products. And now, nearly three years later, their time has come.
While everyone is busy shopping for new charms to add onto their handbags, I've spotted something far more interesting going on. It's actually to do with what is inside the handbags of fashion's coolest. Yes, every chic fashion person I follow on Instagram appears to be carrying a new beauty product in their Birkin/Margaux/ Kelly/Le 5 à 7 tote—a La Bonne Brosse hairbrush.
So what exactly makes La Bonne Brosse hairbrushes so enviable, I hear you ask? Well, it's sort of everything about them. Most obviously, it's their undeniably beautiful exterior. The fact that every brush is available in an array of colours, combined with their slightly retro but simultaneously modern twisted design, means it would be a beauty crime to suggest a La Bonne Brosse hairbrush isn't a total work of art.
Forget about investing in expensive hot brushes and hair stylers. Investing in a super luxurious hair product that you use at least once a day is the ultimate show of self-care in 2025. Because no, at £142 a pop, a La Bonne Brosse hairbrush isn't cheap, but it's so much more than just the latest beauty status symbol. This is not an all style, no substance situation.
You see, the real joy of a La Bonne Brosse hairbrush is in the experience of using it. Each brush is crafted in a way that feels considered and tailored to your wants and needs. As the art of luxury hairbrush making (which was founded in Royal roots) started to die out in France at some point in the 20th Century as cheap plastics became more readily available, hairbrushes went from becoming life-long treasures to cheap throw-aways almost immediately. And the introduction of cheap, plastic bristles has totally changed the ritual of hair brushing. What was once a moment of self-care, reflection and personal hygiene (it distributes nourishing scalp oils to your strands, don't you know?) soon became something rushed and, by some, even loathed.
La Bonne Brosse puts the joy and beauty benefits back into hair brushing. The ergonomic design fits into the hand like it has been carved especially for you, the handle is crafted from biodegradable cellulose acetate and bristles are made from either keratin-rich boar hair or vegan nylon. And each product comes with that iconic level of expertise and precision, something that continually sets all French beauty products apart from the rest.
Oh, and this isn't a one-size-fits-all thing, either. There are seven different brush/bristle types for different hair needs, plus smaller, handbag-friendly petite versions of some. My hair brushing routine has exclusively featured La Bonne Brosse hairbrushes for the past three years, and I can safely say they are still my most prized beauty possessions, and probably always will be.

With 100% rich-in-keratin boar bristles, the Universal brush is the best for shine. It adds a glossy finish, protects against breakage and is suitable for all hair types.
The Essential contains a combination of boar bristles and scratchy nylon bristles for improved detangling. The uncapped nylon bristles work to stimulate blood flow and massage the scalp while they work.
This one is, hands down, my most used beauty product ever. With boar bristles for shine and care, the nylon bristles on this brush have softening caps to minimise overstimulation of the scalp, while still promoting improved hair growth conditions.
The epoxy caps on the end of this nylon bristle brush are good for detangling fine and fragile hair that requires a more gentle approach, all while encouraging hair growth.
If you're more of a round brush person due to daily styling routines, they don't get much chicer than this, do they?
In the market for a baby shower gift or a special birthday gift for the children in your life? I can't recommend this keepsake brush any more highly. It has been designed with super-gentle boar bristles, specifically for children's hair.
If you're hair is particularly thick, curly and prone to matting, this is the detangling hairbrush to have in your arsenal.
