I Love Baccarat Rouge 540—These 9 Affordable Perfumes Give Similar Vibes
Baccarat Rouge 540 is so iconic. One beauty editor shares her favourite similar scents from Zara, & Other Stories and elsewhere.
Hi, my name is Grace, and I'm addicted to perfume. My fragrance collection is getting a little out of control, but there's nothing I love more than experimenting with new scents. That being said, out of all of the perfumes that I've tried over the years, there are a select few that I would repurchase again and again, one of them being Baccarat Rouge 540.
The only downside? A 70ml bottle will set you back a cool £255. Because of this, I've always tended to save the fragrance for date nights or special occasions to ensure that it lasts me for a good while. The good news is that there are some Baccarat Rouge 540 alternatives on the market. No, nothing will ever live up to the real thing, but these alternatives smell incredible in their own right...
The Best Baccarat Rouge 540 Alternatives
- Best Perfume: Zara Red Temptation Eau de Parfum, £23
- Best Perfume Mist: Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 68 Perfume Mist, £24
- Best Perfume Oil: & Other Stories Déjà Vu Mood Perfume Oil, £18
- Best Hair Mist: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Hair Mist, £80
What is Baccarat Rouge 540?
Baccarat Rouge 540 is the cult fragrance by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I'm sure that you've already come across the red and gold bottle on Instagram or TikTok, and I can confirm that this viral perfume really is worth the hype. It was first released as a limited-edition fragrance as part of a collaboration between Maison Francis Kurkdjian and crystal company Baccarat. However, it quickly became a best seller, which means that we all now get to experience just how good it is.
What Does Baccarat Rouge 540 Smell Like?
If you're yet to smell Baccarat Rouge 540, then I recommend heading to sniff it straight away. Warm, sensual notes of jasmine and amber combine with sweet saffron and woody cedar for a truly seductive finish. I am yet to find someone who doesn't like this warming scent, and it's definitely one of my most complimented luxury perfumes to this day.

Yes! During my time as a beauty editor, I've come across a range of affordable perfumes that I believe capture a similar scent to Baccarat Rouge 540 for a fraction of the price. Interested? I thought so.

1. Zara Red Temptation
Key notes: Saffron, coriander, orange, jasmine, praline, moss, amber, musk
I am a big, big fan of Zara perfumes. I think the brand makes some of the best high-street fragrances that money can buy. This particular scent has all the notes that Baccarat Rouge fans know and love, including saffron, jasmine and woody amber. In fact, it's one of the most similar scents I have tried. The lasting power of this is also really impressive, and for under £25, you simply can't go wrong.
2. Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 68 Perfume Mist
Key notes: Dragonfruit, lychee, jasmine, hibiscus, vanilla, musk
When I first came across this product, I thought it looked a bit like a body spray that I would use as a teenager. However, after spritzing it for the first time, I couldn't believe how much it reminded me of Baccarat Rouge 540, with floral notes of jasmine and a vanilla warmth. The best bit about this perfume mist is that it's easy to chuck into your handbag, so even when I'm wearing the original Baccarat Rouge perfume, I like to carry this around with me for top-ups on the go.
3. & Other Stories Déjà Vu Mood Perfume Oil
Key notes: Elemi, raspberry, jasmine, cyclamen, saffron, ambroxan, driftwood, cotton candy
According to TikTok, this is a great alternative to Baccarat Rouge. Although I'm yet to try it, I have many other & Other Stories perfumes that have become staples in my collection. This particular one has notes of jasmine and saffron, but the brand has added hints of wild raspberry for a sweet, fruity finish.
4. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Hair Mist
Key notes: Saffron, jasmine, amberwood, ambergris, fir, resin, cedar
Ok, so this isn't technically a dupe, but did you know that Maison Francis Kurkdjian also does a hair mist in the famous Baccarat Rouge 540 scent at over half the price? I personally love using this on both my hair and body to ensure that the scent lasts all day long.
5. Pacifica Dream Moon Spray Perfume
6. Ariana Grande Cloud
Key notes: Lavender, pear, bergamot, vanilla, coconut, praline, cream, woods, musk
I'm not usually one to try celebrity perfumes; however, when I told my friends and family that I was writing this article, they all said that I had to mention Cloud by Ariana Grande. After smelling it myself, I can see why. It is very similar, with a creamy, sensual yet woody scent that Baccarat Rouge does so well. I will say, though, that it's definitely a lot sweeter, so if you don't like sweet scents, you might want to swerve this one.
7. Phlur Amber Haze Hair & Body Fragrance
8. AllSaints Sunset Riot Intense
9. Burberry Her
Key notes: Blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, jasmine accord, violet accord, white woods, musk, dry amber
Ok, so we wouldn't say this is a direct alternative to Baccarat Rouge 540, but it does share some elements. We'd say this is the daytime equivalent, which leans more floral and fruity. So if you want something a little lighter in the same vein as the iconic fragrance, this is a great option to try.
