Gold Hoops, a White Tee, and This New Body Mist: The No-Fail Recipe for an Effortlessly Cool Summer

You can call it a uniform, an outfit formula, or a signature style. Regardless, I love formulaic fashion and beauty essentials. They save time and effort yet create a chic and effortless aura. That's especially true in the height of summer. Maybe it's because of my busy schedule or a newfound laissez-faire attitude brought about by warm weather and long, languid days, but I don't want to think about the pieces I'm going to wear or the products I'm going to use. I want to keep it easy-breezy. For me, that means sticking to the staples—a pair of jeans, a white tee, gold hoops, and a spritz of my favorite body mist of the moment.
When I say "my favorite body mist," I actually mean three distinct ones. I'm talking about By Rosie Jane's new Body + Hair Mists. They're semi-new to me, but they've already become as foundational to my daily routine as the wardrobe basics I wear with them. Simple and chic, the "fit anything" scents can be worn alone or layered together. Spritz them before heading out to brunch, after a beach day, or before a late-night dinner-and-drinks situation. They're clean, modern, and oh so summery.
I'm not the only one who thinks so. Who What Wear's senior beauty editor, Jamie Schneider, is also a fan. Plus, they've grown quite a waiting list online. Ahead, see why these new body mists are foundational to our summer fragrance wardrobes and why they have some serious sellout potential (so—you know—act fast and all that).
The three mists just launched on Sephora's and By Rosie Jane's websites. Each one has a sheer scent profile that feels fresh and elevated in its own way, making them all perfect for stashing in a gym bag or using on freshly showered hair and skin.

Fragrance notes: orange spritz, coconut spritz, ocean water, ylang-ylang
Beach Baby is my top pick. I, for one, am a sucker for beach-inspired scents because they walk the line between fresh and warm so well, and this one is no exception. While orange, coconut, and ylang-ylang are common (and much-appreciated!) beachy notes, I think the ocean water is what sets this one apart. It gives it a salty edge that genuinely smells like the fresh ocean air in Nantucket, Montauk, and any other seaside destination. I can almost hear the seagulls and feel the ocean spray on my skin.
Jamie says it best: "Okay, maybe it's because I'm hyped for The Summer I Turned Pretty to premiere next week, but I'm really loving Beach Baby. It smells exactly like that post-beach shower—you know, when you're fresh and clean (ideally enveloped up in a plush cotton robe) but your skin has a lingering saltiness."
Fragrance notes: cotton blossom, lily water, soft rose
Next, we have the White Tee Body + Hair Mist. Much like the wardrobe staple it's named after, it has a classic, crisp, and "take anywhere" quality to it. Cotton blossom is paired with an aquatic note of lily water and a detergent-like note of soft rose. Together, they evoke the feeling of sliding on your favorite white tee, fresh and warmed from the dryer. "The silver medal goes to White Tee, IMO," Jamie says. "It's the closest it comes to bottling fresh laundry."
Fragrance notes: tangerine water, sweet apple, lemon blossom
Last but not least, Birthday Suit is a shape-shifting skin scent. I say that because it's fruit-forward at first sniff but quickly dries down to a barely-there scent that has a "your skin but better" effect. It's the kind of scent that makes you smell good but not necessarily like you're wearing a fragrance at all. Know what I mean? "Birthday Suit smells very apple-forward upon first spritz, which is something to note if you don't typically fall for fruity scents," Jamie seconds. "It evaporates quickly, though, and it dries down to this beautiful, almost imperceptible skin scent."
