Dressing Well at the Airport Is Actually Really Easy: Here's How

If dressing for the airport stresses you out, today is the day that ends. If dressing for the airport doesn’t stress you out but you still never end up happy with your outfit, today is the day that also ends. Lastly, if you want to look like a stylish traveler but don’t necessarily have a model-off-duty’s budget, well, you know what I’m going to say next.

My friends, I have found the formula for an airport outfit that works every time. How do I know? I did some calculations, some online shopping, and some causal stalking of Getty Images’ celebrity airport image archive, and here we are. With a little visual help from my favorite models of the moment, continue for the four steps to the perfect travel look and to shop what you’ll need for each—all with affordable items from our very own Who What Wear collection for Target.

Step One: Easy Outerwear

Throw on a roomy, casual, and cool jacket. Think anything denim, in the trench family, or an easy blazer or military style.

Step Two: Cute-But-Comfortable Top

For a failproof outfit, skip the oversize sweatshirt and opt for a blouse that looks sleek but feels like you could fall asleep in it.

Step Three: Polished Pants

I know you want to wear leggings, but trust me when I say that you’ll feel so much more put-together in wide-leg trousers or paper bag–waist pants.

Step Four: Top It Off

Last but not least, make like Gigi Hadid and add on the accessories. Whether it’s a weekend bag, stylish shoes, a comfortable scarf (or all of the above), they make all the difference.
